Review of B’re’shiyt so far...
Pictures:
- Menorah = The first sentence of B’re’shiyt
P 3 of your study guide...
“B’re’shity bara Elohiym ‘ET hashamayim v’et ha’aretz.”
“In the beginning Elohiym Aleph -Tov created the heavens and the earth.”
the picture....
The “et” - the aleph and the tov - is the center - which happens to be the servant candle (Hitgalut /Rev 22:12-13)
... and one side of the menorah the YHWH side:
“B’re’shiyt bara elohiym”
...and the other side, the side of creation/ world - haShamayim va’et haErezt”
YHWH -as the Aleph-Tov -the Messiah... HE is the connection between creation (one side of menorah) and YHWH (the other side of the menorah).
Picture
- The house, the piece of land. and a family:
We talked about how the beit - the first letter - in the oldest version of Torah found - faces the other letters... as the Torah comes out of the house...
The house is YHWH’s house.
Again we are back to the house the family and the piece of land....
Mattityahu 13:1 cjb p 1239
“That same day, Y’shua went out of the house and sat down by the lake , but such a large crowd gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat there while the crowd stood on the shore...”
- “out of the house” = outside the court of the Tabernacle = “the HOUSE” / the Beit haMichdash
- This teaching is foundational on the principal of the seed... and that is that YHWH’s family is born from His seed - the Torah/ Word - and not from man’s seed / blood and sperm.
- The phrase - “to go out of the house” in Hebrew thinking is to leave from the East and go to the West.
- The word that has been translated as “shore” is “yam” in Hebrew and it is the same word as “west”... and who is represented by the west - those “out of the house” of YHWH - His beit haMichdash.
- Those out of the House of YHWH are those out of covenant or, said more clearly --- those not keeping Torah.
- “....sat down by the lake” - “lake” = the Hebrew meaning here is - a great multitude = the Northern Kingdom of Isra’el.
So... what we have: ...That same day, Y’shua went out of YHWH’s house - the beit hamichdash, and went to the West - into the Kingdom of Isra’el - the Northern Kingdom ... with the purpose of bringing them - the people of the Northern Kingdom - those out of covenant - also known as Isra’el ----back to the house
- actually doing what He came to do...
Mattityahu 15:24 cjb p 1243
“He said, ‘I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Isra’el.’”
We consistently see that the mission of Y’shua haMashiach...
...IS........
...“To take His people - Isra’el - by the hand, and lead them back to the House - the beit haMichdash - b/c they keep Torah there..... and are family.”
*
The definition of B’re’shiyt =
-In the beginning
-a title of the ONE who created
-the head of
-what starts something into motion
**
Picture
- Lightening bolt = BARA
just as a lightening bolt is not there, and then is there .... this is a picture of BARA - YHWH took the unseen and made it seen.
**
We also talked about the Hebrew linguistics - and Brad Scott says...
The form in which BARA first appears is the...
qal stem
and this is in the perfect tense, masculine and is singular...
When something is in the qal stem it means...
= “HE” - in first person masculine...
referring to the one who is doing the creating - HE singular,
and it is in perfect tense - so that means it is completed...
So right there in B’re’shiyt - it is saying - ONE being created ... and that being is masculine and that His work was perfect or completed right there at that time.
*
“Bara” = to open up and make seen.
(That is why we do not say - like the Greeks - “ex nihilo”.
Ex nihilo means ...“outof nothing”.)
What we say is ... created “out of those things which are unseen”
This is important.... in the Greek they say “ex nihilo” and that means “out of nothing”.... but the Word was not written first in Greek -
-the language of the Torah is Hebrew and in Hebrew it says BARA and
BARA does not mean “out of nothing”....
BARA means “out of those things that are unseen”!!!
Remember we have talked about how YHWH uses SEED - the natural - things we can see ~~~ to explain the spiritual - the things we can’t see?
and in that little seed is all the unseen that becomes the seen.
*
We also said....
Bara is a word ONLY used of YHWH.
Man never baras...
man only forms and makes and manipulates from what is already created.
Only YHWH creates/ baras.
*
That is our short review...
So now... let’s go to...
NEW material....
..... We are still talking about “BARA” :)
On the bottom of page four in the study guide...
is the definition of BARA....
BARA = created, to open up, to make visible - as a seed does
beit -resh- aleph
page 5 in the study guide....
the pictograph - if you go to the page before the green page in the study guide... means....
“The strength or power of the head of the house”
~
Look what it says on the very top of page 5...
“words and letters are concentrated at the beginning but dispersed through out scripture - in the qal (kal) perfect.”
What does that mean?....
We said before that the qal perfect means...
....this is in the perfect tense, is masculine and is singular...
When something is in the qal stem it means...
= “HE” - in first person masculine...
referring to the ONE who is doing the creating - HE singular,
and it is in perfect tense - so that means it is completed...
So when Brad Scott says...
“words and letters are concentrated at the beginning but dispersed through out scripture - in the qal (kal) perfect.”
He is saying that especially in the beginning and then throughout the Torah / the Word.... the word bara is used and it clearly points out that ...
... there was a SINGLE or ONE, masculine being who did a completed work.
~
Let’s look at...
Yesha’Yahu 43:1 cjb p 502
“But now this is what YHWH says, he who created (bara) you, Ya’Akov, he who formed you, Isra’el.”
is one example of BARA in other scriptures...
(also see the Ychez’q’el /Ezekiel references on p 5)
~
Lets talk about “cognates” for a bit...
“cognates” = come from a latin term that means family.
So we can say cognates are family words or related words....
The cognates of BARA = mean to be free from constraint
- “para’” = Pey resh aleph
and “parah” = to be fruitful
pey resh hey
they mean == “to free from constraint / to open up/ to produce fruit”
p’ree = fruit
Hoseah 13:15 “fruitful” among his brethern
“fruitful” is a congnant (brother/ sister word) of bara
Genesis 1:22 “be fruitful and multiply”
the fruit will not contradict the seed....
--“like kind produces like kind”
one cognant of BARA is...
baraq - bet resh kof = “lightening” in Daniel 10:6
what would lightening have to do with creation??
YHWH has expressed these things in human concrete terms
....so YHWH expresses emotional things through physical.. we can see.
Lightening appears to come from no where... so they use lightening... to open up and make visible.
They can be found in Hoshea 13:15;
B’re’shiyt 1:22 - “baraq” = lightening
Daniel 10:6
Brad Scott goes on to say ...
That the word BARA - “in the singular with the next word ‘Elohiym’.... is very important to note - (because Elohiym can mean plural - gods)
....we have to remember that the word BARA is only used with the Living God.... and this is very important to understand in identifying YHWH from gods.
So again, it is not “something from nothing: ex nihilo,” .... but the seen from that which is unseen.
2 Maccabees 7:28 - notice there is no material mentioned.....
“I beg you, my child, to look at the heaven and the earth and see everything that is in them, and recognize that YHWH did not make them out of things that existed. And in the same way the human race came into being.”
**
When we talk about - “something from nothing” we are talking about something seen from the unseen
Rambam - the great Spanish Jewish Rabbi teacher and physician... said “the holy one blessed be he, created all things from absolute non-existance.”
When he says “none existance” - HE means = the things unseen
We know this because the language of Hebrew has a word used expressly... to show something - visible coming from nonvisible = BARA!
Did you get that...?? Let me say it again....
Hebrew has a word used expressly... used to show something visible coming from nonvisible = BARA... !!!
Greek and English do not have equivelant words.
No other laungauge really has equavelant terms to express a thought in another language
So when the translaters moved from Hebrew - they had to choose the greek words...
(This is why Brad doesn’t hold to an original new testement greek manuscript... the letters had to be translated to go out in to communities... in greek.....
.... but there were hired greek scribes to translate...
The greeks were about - “proper greek”.... and had hired greek scribes ... BUT the authors wrote in HEBREW and the Hebrew was translated into Greek!!!
The translators had to choose a greek word that was equivilaent ...
(Plus we know that translators from KingJames and forward ... were anti sematic an anti Torah... so that influenced translation as well!!)
They picked - “puaio” - this is used for Bara...
But “puaio” means creation of God and of MEN.
another word in greek patetso used of God and man creation.
in Hebrew, “Bara” = is ONLY YHWH creating.
Man doesn’t do any bara- ing / creating.
Man’s activity in Hebrew is the Hebrew words... “asah” and “yetsar”...
and these mean... “to make, and form, and fashion.”
The word
“bara” not used again until Bresheet 1:21 and is used of the creatures with breath... something YHWH has to do outside of TIME, or said differently --- outside what is in the creation - the heavens and the earth... He had to come back in to creation and breathe....
which is saying that the “BREATH” did not come from something in creation - but from outside of creation... YHWH had to add it in right then.... not pull it from what was already seen.
BARA = to open up.. to make something seen from the unseen.
Y’sha’yahu /Isaiah 40:26 only YHWH
Y’sha’yahu 41:20 - only YHWH
Y’sha’yahu 42:5 He creates the heaven the earth the breath and spirit
Y’sha’yah 43:7-9
Y’sha’yah 45:7-8
Y’sha’yah 45:18
~
There are a couple of uses of “Bara” in Hebrew that are hard to understand....
But they can be made clearer through etemyilogical roots of this word Bara..
Y’sha’yahu 45:5-7 cjb p 507
... they may know me from the rising of the sun to the west (2 diff directions his people will go into) ...
... form light and create darkness....
We see YHWH creating darkness and we think - YHWH created evil....
But Brad Scott says...
-- “One thing that did not come from His Word (His creation) is = sin!”
= This means that YHWH did not speak “sin” into this world!
YHWH does not create ‘hatah’ / evil...
but He does open up out of His Word, the ramifications of disobeying him.
Yah does not create sin but He does break open the sheer ramifications of disobeying him...
....in the creation it is darkness....
..... the creation can’t do evil but the evil one and man can do evil...
As a result of hasatan’s fall between B’re’shiyt 1:1 and 1:2 - there is darkness... a division between light and darkness...
.... YHWH places in His word.... a result of disobeying His word and they are laws = physcial and spiritual laws...
=== natural results of disobeying His Word.....
Remember in D’Varim /Deuteronomy 27-28 YHWH lists blessings and curses....
CURSES are the result of disobeying!
... That is why many times scriptures indicate YHWH is doing something ...
.... when it is actually just the results of disobeying His Word.
Scott says...
YHWH’s Word -contains all ramifications of evil and for doing good.
when Hasatan falls there is darkness...
Scripture says there is punishment for hanius things...
And so in the Word, we get the ramifications for sin.., which is death.
So this means that out of Yah’s Word is the ramfication of sin or evil.
Evil / ra = “to take something whole and break it into pieces”...
= evil is when man disobeys YHWH.
-This means that the sheer ramifications is the taking what is whole and good and complete and breaking and scattering it....
Brad Scott says that it is “not like YWHW is ‘Jepedo’ in heaven making evil...
-This is like..... the new bodies in the Brit Chadashah...
1 Corin 15:35-38 cjb p 1438 -
This is the assocation of our new bodies......
... and ...renewed or restored use of new bodies..
New is = “kinos” in greek, and “Kadash” in Hebrew...
It can be translated as “new” or “renew”..........“to every seed its own body”
creation - Yah takes something from a seed and produces something out of His word... brings things out of it...
and .... this is related to our new bodies
2 Corin 5:17 cjb p 1444
“Therefore if anyone is untied with the Messiah, he is a new creation - the old has passed; look, what his come is fresh and new!”
... A new creation - and these are physical as well and spiritual... but the focus is always spiritual...
.... when YHWH renews us... He begins in the holy place... inside of us... our hearts....
“faith comes by hearing”.... on the outside....
in time....
and I see and /or hear ...
and then my mind rejects or accepts it...
and if I accept it, then Yah comes and dwells inside me...and His spirit comes and dwells iside of me...
that would be..... His seed.... and it is spiritual...all about faith.
.... YHWH plants His seed inside me and He plants it in the most holy place...
just like in nature...
YHWH approaches man from the outside in...
Yah has got to be in you -- before He can change you...
I have to have a seed first.... “out of His seed produces His Word.”...
like Paul with pharasees.. .....
Pharasees == people trying to express the fruit of Torah /Word when they don’t have the SEED in them to produce that fruit, so that means they are trying to produce thier own fruit without a seed !!!!
Yah says you have to have His seed in you first
He brings it forth out of His Torah / Word.
Like kind produces like kind.
No apple seed = no apples.
~~~
The 22 letters of aleph beit are the raw material of the physical and nonphysical... YHWH used these to create all things.
Ivriym /Messianic Jews /Heb 11:3 cjb p 1505
‘By trusting, we understand that the universe was created through a spoken Word of YHWH, so that what is seen did not come into being out of existing phenomena.”
Mizomore /Psalm 33:6-9 cjb p 820
Ivriym/Messianic Jews / Heb 1:3 cjb p 1493
“This Son is the radiance of the sh’khinah, the very expression of
YHWH ‘s expression of YHWH’s essence upholding all that exists by his powerful word; ...”
-- Upholding all things by His Word... bringing forth/ producing...
... brining things into existance by the word / through his power...
.... YHWH’s power is able to take those 22 letters and create....
.... it is His omnipotent power that He is able to speak things out of them into existance
Col 1:16-17 cjb p1470
-- Remember when talking about Messiah - in vs 17-
“He existed before all things, and he holds everything together.”
He is before all things and by him all things consist, or are held together (histayme =held together)...
~
Upholding all things by His word... bringing forth/ producing...
-So brining things into existance by the word / through His power...
His power is able to take those 22 letters and create....
Through His omnipotence power that He is able tospeak things out of them into existance
Ivriym /Hebrews 11:3 cjb p 1505
“By trusting, we understand that the univers was created through a spoken word of YHWH , so that what is seen did not come into being out of existing phenomena.”
Mizmor / Psalm 33:6-9 cjb p 820
“By the Word of YHWH the heavens were made, and their whole host by a breath from His mouth. He collects the sea waters together in a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear YHWH! Let all living in the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and there it was; he commanded, and there it stood.”
Ivriym /Heb 1:3 cjb p 1493
“This Son is the radiance of the Sh’khinah, the very expression of YHWH’s essence, upholding all that exists by HIs powerful Word; and after he had through Himself, made purificiation for sins, He sat down at the right hand of Ha’G’dulah BaM’romin.” (the Greatness on High = a euphemism for YHWH.)
Now compare that to...
Col 1:16-17 cjb p 1470
...“because in connection with Him were created allthings -- in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, lordships, rulers or authorities -- they have all been created through Him and for Him. 17 He existed before all things and He holds everything together.”
Brad Scott says... remember when talking about Messiah - in vs 17,
YHWH is before all things and by Him all things consist/ are held together.... in CJB it says... “He holds everthing together.”
That phrase “holds together” in Greek = “histayme”.
That Greek word “histayme” is transalted from the HEBREW Word - “ZVOTH”....and it means = commandment/ MITZVOTH.... with a mem prefix it is singualr = a commandment... mitzvoth.
== By His Torha, His Word - Yah is holding all things together.
- This is what is holding the universe together - the Word of YHWH.
*
2 Thessalonians 2 cjb p 1478
YHWH is going to turn unbelieving man to their own desires and cause them to believe the lie -just like what YHWH did in the Tanakh with the quale - they wanted meat and they got it....
YHWH is holding all things together with His Torah / Word...
Remember that the unseen in a molecule takes up more space than the seen matter...
.....and it is the unseen that is more important than the seen.
On the bottom of page 6 in the study guide....
Rabbi Nehemiah says “everthing created on the 1st day in the very first instant through YHWH original word.”
Hasatan was created ... Y’chez’q’el 28 cjb p 676 is about the prince of Tzor / aka King of Tyre... but Brad Scott says it is also about hasatan !
===This is a remez understanding -- just like Y’sha’yahu /Isaiah 53 is about Mashiach.
Think about this... the prince of Tzor / aka = King of Tyre, could not have been in Gan /Garden of Eden.
hasatan was created....
Y’chez’q’el 28:15 cjb p 677
“You were perfectin your ways from the day you were created, until unrighteousness was found in you.”
YHWH created choice... to choose to do right and wrong and from that man makes a choice and sin comes into existance...
Hasatan was a created being....
Was he created as hasatan?
No, hasatan was created as Lucifer...
Yesha’yahu /Isaiah 14: 12-15 cjb p 458
Who chooses to disobey?... hasatan - the protype of disobedience...
YHWH didn’t create hasatan evil... he created him with choice...
and something foreign enters the system and corrupts it = sin.
**
May we have so much understanding of His Torah /Word...that we can have hochma / wisdom... and choose correctly over and over again.
**
So that is the end of BARA.
We have completed six teachings and we have completed the second word of Torah!!
Baruch haShem YHWH!
Amein....
