Torah Parashah #22 Vayak’hel ~ He assembled...
Sh’mot Exodus 35:1- 38:20 cjb p 101
*
We are going to talk about the Torah portion and then the next word - the 9th teaching of B’re’shiyt ... and then I am going to do a short summary of a teaching that is very important...
So let’s start with
Torah:
Sh’mot 35:1-3 cjb p 101 - Shabbat
Remember that in the last parashah we read about Shabbat
Sh’mot 31:12-17 cjb p 96
“observe” = “shamar” = “to guard, protect, and keep to ensure accuracy”
~
We know that i have said many times that science has proven that if someone is going to rest any time in the week - they get the most rest from their “rest time”... from Fri pm to Sat pm = Shabbat!!
~
Let’s look at
Mizmor 116:1-7 cjb p 908
vs 7 “”my soul, return to your rest!”
What does it mean to “return to your rest”?
the Hebrew word “REST” is
...manowach (pronounced maw-no’-akh)
It is Strong’s H4494 and it means...
Quiet
(concretely) a settled spot
(figuratively) a home
The aleph bet is ....
Mem = waters, birth, bring forth. By His spirit, He baptizes us, cleansing, refreshing and birthing new life in us.
Nun = fish darting, imparting life. He is the Life. Y’shua imparts the quickening life of His Ruach/Spirit in us that we may live His life and do His works.
Vav = nail, hook, bridge. The Son of Man was nailed to the stake to join us to Him and to secure a relationship bridged between us and Abba.
Chet = fence, border, enclosure. The Good Shepherd encloses and protects us in His sheepfold. He sets the borders of what’s in and outside the kingdom
~
To summarize.... the Hebrew word manowach - which means rest...
... it is ... when we return to our rest.
It is a settled spot, a HOME but not a place; a HOME in HIM.
He is our life, and He quickens us, births new life in us.
His beinah - HIs plan for restoration/ Yahshua - connects us to YHWH.
He brings us to our place of rest which is an enclosed, protected, fenced and safe sheepfold in His kingdom.
So when we rest... as it says in
Mizmor 23:1-3 cjb p 810
“YHWH is my shepherd; i lack nothing. He has me lie down in grassy pastures, he leads me by quiet water, he restores my inner person. He guides me in right paths for the sake of his own name.”
When we rest to keep Shabbat - we stop working.... and go to grassy pastures beside quiet water... and we are restored.
It is interesting to note that the English word “Paths”... in 23:3 is “agol” in Hebrew - which is a cycle... His cycles... of Torah and His Moed.
**
And then the rest of the Parashah is about the making of the things in and for the Tabernacle.
I just want to point out one other thing at this point....
Sh’mot 35: 30-35 cjb p 101...
“He has filled him with the Ruach of YHWH... with wisdom and understanding and knowledge concerning every kind of artisanry.”
It is very important to note that persons in the Tanakh - the Old Testament were filled with the Ruach/Spirit!
*
So YHWH spends time again in Torah - giving clear direction on Shamar -ing - guarding and protecting the Shabbat....
and on building the Tabernacle and the things inside it.
** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** **
Now let’s shift gears and go to our study of
B’re’shiyt by Brad Scott....
Let’s review ...
page 3 in the study guide...
B’re’shiyt 1:1
“B’re’shiyt bara Elohiym ET hashamayim v’et ha’aretz.”
“In the beginning God- AZ- created the heavens and the earth.”
Remember that sentence is a picture of the Menorah...
and B’re’shiyt is represented by the child’s picture of a house on a piece of land and a family.
Page 10 in the study guide...
B’re’shiyt 1:2
“V’ha’arets hay’tah tohu vavohu v’choshek ‘alp’ney t’hom.”
“And the earth was(became) without form and void. And darkness was upon the face of the deep.”
Last week we talked about V’ha’arets.
... V’ha’arets = “and the earth” - not the heavens - the visible only.
And we talked about a very significant thing ... that it is the plan of hasatan to pervert the physical - the “seen” - so that we don’t understand the spiritual - the “unseen”.
If i don’t have a right understanding of what i know - then i won’t have a right understanding of YHWH’s spiritual truth...
ie - a child who had an abusive father - doesn’t understand the love of Abba YHWH.
Hasatan’s goal is to mess with the TRUTH of the physical world... so that we don’t understand the spiritual.... we must understand this... this goes back to understanding what is TRUE and what is a lie.
*
So let’s continue....
Today - we are on the word HAY’TAH.
HAY’TAH = was.
Was means it is already in the past.
Brad goes on to explain that “there is a conjunction here... “and the earth was without form and void”....
... to some people this implies that YHWH created things this way =without form and void...
The word is HAY’TAH... and in Hebrew it is - hey- yod- tov -hey.
It comes fro HAYAH and it means “to come into being.
This word can be used in past tense and in future tense... and it is the context that determines what tense it is in.
Brad believes that it is clear, from all the testimony with the rest of the Word/Scripture, this word is translated as come into being and come to pass... and was.
But English “was” isn’t necessarily past tense either.
The point is that in the Hebrew , you really technically only have 2 tenses. - or at least what we call tenses - 2 ways of looking at time.... We have matter/ mass now so now we have time... so we have to decide past - or future...
There are 2 time indicators in the Hebrew, and you really, technically only have - 2 tenses in Hebrew.
Remember in English we have past present and future...
But in Hebrew they are the perfect tense and the imperfect tense.
Basically, since we are in B’re’shiyt -the ancient Hebrew is really all you have since there is no grammatical system developed yet.
So we have to understand the way they were thinking - when the wrote it...
The perfect tense = a term to express = a completed act.
The imperfect tense = a term to express something that is happening and is continuing to happen... nothing indicates in the imperfect tense word that it is finished yet or has stopped happening.
~
Remember we said that the word BARA in B’re’shiyt 1:1 - is in the Qal stem perfect form...
so by this we know that BARA was done by ONE person - he was male and it was a completed work... finished.
~
Hay’tah - is also in perfect tense and so = is a completed act.
Some uses of HAY’TAH ...
B’re’shiyt 18:12 cjb p 16 “So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, “I am old, and so is my lord; am i to have pleasure again?”
The phrase “am I to have”... which says in other Bibles... “Shall i have” ... = means “coming to being”...
... remember it is perfect tense so it is a completed act!!
B’re’shiyt 47:26 cjb p 54 “Yosef made it a law for the country of Egypt, valid to this day, that Pharaoh should have 20 percent. Only the property belonging to the priest did not become Pharaoh’s.”
The phrase “should have” is HAY’TAH.
B’re’shiyt 3:1 - “now the serpent was more crafty...”
“was” = HAY’TAH. - a completed act
B’re’shiyt 19:26 “But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a column of salt.”
“she became” = HAY’TAH - a completed act.
There are a few more examples in your study guide...
But what we need to understand is that the nature of the word is to come into existence and come to pass...
... So if that is the case.. then there was a source that caused these things to become tohu and vovohu = without form and void.
If we decide that YHWH created something that was without form and void... then His whole nature is “out of wack” -so to speak... b/c YHWH always does things completely/ perfectly!
**
Remember how we have talked that Yesha’Yahu 53 is about the Mashiach
- even though it doesn’t come out and say... “This is about Mashiach”??
Well, let’s look at
Yesha’Yahu /Isaiah 14 is about hasatan...
Y’sha’yahu 14:12-14 cjb p 458.. . (fell from heaven)
We have a tendency to think hasatan just suddenly appears and is a serpent ....
We need to understand the nature of our adversary - hasatan - or translated, “the satan”.
He is not just a serpent ... but he can also appear as an angel of light....
He is the tree of the knowledge of tov / good/ function and of ra/ evil/ dysfunction ... so what am i saying???....
Hasatan does things that are not just evil, but good !!...
b/c he is the personification of the tree of the knowledge of ra and tov/ good and evil/ function and dysfunction.
What am i saying - hasatan does good??!!
Remember we have always talked about 2 powers in the world... YHWH and hasatan.... and if it is not one it is the other....
Well think about things like yoga and reiki.... many people will tell you that these things are good - because in the beginning they produce results that seem to be beneficial. But they are the “beautiful” beginning of the ugly road of evil.
I can hardly wait until we get to the scripture talking about the 2 trees!!
**
HAY’TAH = is generally translated as “was” or “become”... but that is still not really that relevant ... b/c the word in this form is used in many different ways throughout scripture... many times the translators pick the one that conforms to their teaching.... but Brad says we have to go also with the context of the word...
... and the words surrounding HAY’TAH are supporting that something happened to make the earth formless and void.
** ** **
The next word is tohu
We are still on page 10 in your study guide...
-The aleph bet is - tav -hey- holem vav.
-The Root is taha - tav - hey - hey
It means = to be confused/ chaotic.
Tohu is translated as “confused, formless, chaos, confusion, emptiness and worthlessness.” - these are “brother words” and they all have thier basis in the idea of “confusion” ...
So... when we talk about translation of formless- iti s related to the idea of something being confused.
Is it logical to assume that YHWH created the world in formlessness and chaos and worthlessness as a completed and finished work??
Brad believes that YHWH created it perfect and complete and something happened and then YHWH restored it in six days.
Let me point out - that this - is the same pattern YHWH does with the individual man and with Isra’el....
It is whole - then it is a mess - and then YHWH makes it whole again.
D’varim /Deuteronomy 32:9-10 cjb p 235 “But YHWH’s share was his own people, Ya’akov his allotted heritage. 10 He found his people in desert country, in a howling, wasted wilderness. He protected him and cared for him guarded him like the pupil of his eye,”
“Wasted” = TOHU - notice “waste” is in context with wilderness....
Job 12:24 cjb p 1007 “He removes understanding from a country’s leaders and makes them wander in trackless deserts.”
“trackless deserts” = TOHU
Yesha’Yahu /Isaiah 24:10 cjb p 471 “The city of chaos is shattered, every house closed up; no one can enter.”
“Chaos” - confusion - TOHU....
kept in context of this verse... you get that someone is taken captive and shut in, associated with the word confusion .... “broken down” and “shut up” like prisoners....
I Sam 12:21 cjb p 310 “Don’t turn to the side; because then you should go after useless things that can neither help nor rescue, they are so futile.”
“futile” (vain in other books) = TOHU
In Arabic the word TAHA means to be lost, to wonder aimlessly, and is the word for “someone who has gone astray.”
Yesha’Yahu /Isaiah 14:9-17 cjb p 458 “
haylell in Hebrew is “lucifer”... its root comes from halel which is praise.... Halellulyah....
Brad thinks this is why some people believe that lucifer was the leader of worship before he fell...b/c of the very nature of his name.
The son of the morning ... ben schar = son of dawn or son of the rising.
(Remember how we talked about BANE in the BatMan movie??... well the title of that is Dark Night Rising.... do you see the connections?!!)
Chapter 14 of Yesha’Yahu is one of the few places where e have direct comments about hasatan.
14:17... “who made the world a desert, who destroyed its cities, who would not set his prisoners free?...”
Do you see the association with wasting, destroying and shutting/ keeping captive?
The question becomes... WHEN did he make the world like a wilderness?
Brad thinks it was between verse 1 and verse 2. We know the bara was a completed work... and then in verse 2 - it is with out form and void - TOHU ...
Brad said he holds to only 1 part of the gap theory... that the world was created complete and whole and then it got messed up....
BUT all the rest of the gap theory teachings he says are false - they are lies.
~
While we are considering this... we need to see that there is no suggestion in the Word of pre-adamic creatures... or any death occurring... We don’t have living things yet... there were no pre-adamic beings.
No dinosaurs yet... and no death.
Romans 5:12 cjb p 1407 “Here is how it works; it was through one individual that sin entered the world, and through sin, death; and in this way death passed through the whole human race, inasmuch as everyone sinned.”
So this word TOHU is directly associated with confusion and worthlessness.
Do you see how it makes no sense that knowing the character and nature of YHWH - that he would have created something with confusion and worthlessness.
** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** **
I want to switch gears and go to a teaching that i sent out ... from a website that Taylor found....
It is from the site....
The Title of the teaching is “The Bride, the Concubine, and the Harlot” and it is by Barry Phillips.
This teaching is very significant and i have talked to several of you...and know that nobody seems to have time right now... so i am going to give you a shortened version of Mr Phillips’ teaching - but i would strongly encourage you to go listen to him speak it!
So....
“The Bride, the Concubine, and the Harlot” by Barry Phillips...
Ephesians 5:25-27 cjb p 1463
“As for husbands, love your wives, just as the Messiah loved the Messianic Community, indeed, gave himself up on its behalf, 26 in order to set it apart for YHWH making it clean through immersion in the mikvah, so to speak, 27 in order to present the Messianic Community to himself as a bride to be proud of, without spot, wrinkle or any such thing, but holy and without defect.”
That is what it says in the Complete Jewish Bible...
But the King James.... and following says... “as Christ loved the church” !!!!!!!
And as we know - they will say that the church replaced Isra’el... but that is not what any of the Hebrew Torah says.
Let’s just consider...
The people that will say the church replaced Isra’el... forget that the Messiah - was a JEW.
Yahshua, being HEBREW is forbidden to marry a non - Hebrew bride.
and the Bride He marries must adhere to all Torah and be capable of teaching Torah to her children.
Whoever is the bride is to be able to teach Torah!
Okay... so let’s look at
D’varim 21:15 cjb p 220 “If a man has two wives...”
(I really appreciate this part of the teaching b/c it helps explain the things i have struggled to understand!)
Not “he can’t have two wives”.... but if he does.... so he CAN have 2 wives....
A second wife is permitted.
But the second wife is a concubine.
A man only marries ONE primary wife...
The primary wife has a ketubah....a marriage contract - explaining what he paid for her, will do for her and what he expects her to do.
No other wife gets a ketubah.
I used to think that Concubines were prostitutes.... but they are an authentic absolute wife but they do not have a ketubah - a marriage contract, and all the kids from the concubine are not legal heirs.
The only legal heirs a man can have come from the primary wife with the ketubah.
So... let’s consider Sarah and Hagar...
Sarah is the legal wife and Hagar is the concubine.
The plan was that Hagar was to sit on Sarah’s lap as Hagar birthed her child... so that the baby would pass through Sarah’s knees as well....
The church is like Hagar... Isra’el is like Sarah.
The concubine - Hagar was the only one that was fruitful for a long time....
....just as the Hebrew roots/ Messianic community has been.... Not so fruitful... people are not coming in droves wanting to be Torah observant and understand TRUTH to walk in it - YET.
Mr Phillips’ says maybe that is why YHWH still uses the church... because we who are called out are mostly barren at this point.. .
(BUT barrenness can be healed!)
Sh’mot 19:8 cjb p 81
“All the people answered as one, ‘Everything YHWH has said, we will do.’”
“We will do” = the “I do” of a marriage vow.
and what is the ketubah?
The Torah instructions on how to live.
The bride reads/ hears the ketubah at Sinai and accepts it.
The ketubah has to be accepted to be kept and be valid.
The church says “We are experiencing His presence, so what do you mean we are not the bride??!!”
Sh’mot 21:10 cjb p 83 “If he marries another wife, e is not to reduce her food, clothing or marital rights.”
= He can not deny a wife marital rights / intimacy! So of course He shows up when the church worships!!
But how much more should the primary bride receive!
Galatians 4:21-31 cjb p 1456
How do you tell the children apart?
... by what they claim as their inheritance...
The inheritance is the ‘Eretz Yisra’el - the land of Isra’el.
Mr Phillips says...
You do not get saved to go to heaven.... The heavenly city does come to us ...but we don’t catch the rapture bus!”
He goes on to say ... “If you try to take Eretz Isra’el without a Torah heart... the land will vomit you out.”
the children of the concubine talk about inheriting things... “blessings”.. . but mostly it is the the “name it claim it” to some degree.
The message of the concubine is - “you give, to get”
But the primary bride kids are about the ERETZ / the land.
Sh’mot 21:2-6 cjb p 83 ...talks about owning a slave... when a married man leaves he takes his family with him... as one can only be a slave for six years...
If a man comes in to slavery single - he leaves single.
Or he can be given a concubine and have kids with her... and the concubine and the kids stay with the master.
The man gets to choose to stay with his family or leave...
If he decides to stay with the master and his family - the master pierces the slave man’s ear...with an aul... and this mutilates his ear...and his hearing becomes imperfect hearing....
... this is the scenario played out by the church’s pastors.. imperfect hearing... the kids are of the church - the concubine...
The church is not producing children of the covenant - the ketubah - the Torah.
The Harlot - offers the resemblance of intimacy and grants fulfillment - but there is no commitment.
In competing with the Bride - the line is ... “you don’t need a bride...”
So the system that fains religious expression ...
Mishlei /Proverbs 2:1 cjb p 942 “paying attention to wisdom inclining your mind toward understanding”
Mishlei 6:23 cjb p 949 “For the mitzvah is a lamp, Torah is light and reproofs that discipline are the way of life.”
I Corin 6:15 cjb p 1428 “Don’t you know that your bodies are parts of the Messiah? So, am i to take parts of the Messiah and make them parts of a prostitute / Harlot? Heaven forbid!”
*
The Bride hears and accepts Torah - she agrees to the Ketubah. And she must be able to teach Torah.
The Harlot - of Hitgalut /Revelation 17 cjb p 1548
... drinks of worldly acceptance - like Salvation Army, Red Cross etc....
She not just competes with the Bride for intimacy - she kills His people.
The concubine has intimacy - but no ketubah - no Torah...
She will be weeping and gnashing teeth - outside the wedding feast... because she is found in the company of the harlot system
Mishlei / Proverbs 7:6-27 cjb p 948
7:6 “those who don’t think for themselves” = Torah-less
7:10 “then a woman approaches... dressed as a prostitute”
= looks like the harlot but is the concubine...
7:14 “offer peace sacrifices” = feigning religion
7:19 “my husband is not here” = Messiah not here
7:21 “with all her sweet talk she convinces...” = her doctrines smooth over the problems with “nice” sermons”.
*
The religious system of our society is largely the concubine. There are harlots out there... but they are politically correct and clearly obvious....
but the concubine... fains religion/ faith...... but has no ketubah - does not keep Torah...
only the bride with the ketubah is the one with the children that have inheritance.
wow.
May we live as and be the BRIDE!
AMEIN...
