Vayikra (Leviticus) 16:1- 18:30 cjb p 128

***
Today we are going to talk about the Torah portion briefly and then we are going to talk about the Moeds/set apart times / feasts of YHWH... Pesach = 4/14,
Chag Hamatzot /Unleavened Bread = 4/15- 4/21
Chag HaBikkirum /First Fruits  = 4/20
The counting the Omer = Sefirat Ha-Omer - with Shavuot on June 8, 2014.

And then we are going to talk briefly about the blood moons starting on this Pesach /Passover.

Torah Parashah # 29
Vayikra (Leviticus) 16:1- 18:30 cjb p 128

Acharei Mot (after the death)

After the death of who or what?

16:1 - After the death of Aharon’s two sons, when they tried to sacrifice before YHWH and died;”

Vayikra 16:16  cjb p 128  -- tells us what the beginning of this parashah is focused on...
“He will make atonement for the Holy Place because of the uncleannesses of the people of Isra’el and because of their transgressions - all their sins; and he is to do the same for the tent of meeting which is there with them right in the middle of uncleannesses.”

and it tells us about how that atonement was made... sacrifices.

After this the parashah goes into the beginning of a lot of instructions / rules...

What to do when you shed blood in 17:1...

What to do if someone offers a burnt offering without brining it to the entrance of the tent of meeting

What to do if someone eats any kind of blood  and why we don’t eat blood...
Vayikra 17:11-12 cjb p 130
“For the life of a creature is in the blood, and i have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for yourselves; for it is the blood that makes atonement because of the life  This is why i told the people of Isra’el, ‘None of you is to eat blood nor is any foreigner living with you to eat blood.”

In Vayikra 18 he talks about sexual rules/ instructions...

Now remember last week what did the Torah portion talk about?
....clean and unclean - holy and profane....

so in this portion YHWH begins to explain all these things...

...And then the summation of these rules/ instructions...
Vayikra 18: 1- 5 cjb p 130
“YHWH said to Moshe, 2 “speak to the people of Isra’el; tell them, I am YHWH your God.  3 You are not to engage in the activities  found int he land of Egypt, where you used to live; and you are not to engage in the activities found in the lad of Kena’an, where i am bringing you; nor are to live by their laws.  4 You are to obey my rulings and laws and live accordingly ; I am YHWH your God.  5 You are to observe my laws and rulings; if a person does them; he will have life through them; I am YHWH.”

Interesting this is....
Here we are on the Shabbat before the High Shabbat - the HOLY and set apart Moed of YHWH - the appointment YHWH set to meet with his people.....

Pesach / Passover, and chag HaMatzot, and chag ha-Bikkurim,  First Fruits
(Chag or hag = feast or celebration)

Here we are - and the Torah is talking about :

Vayikra 18: 3 “You are not to engage in the activities  found int he land of Egypt, where you used to live; and you are not to engage in the activities found in the lad of Kena’an, where i am bringing you; nor are to live by their laws.  4 You are to obey my rulings and laws and live accordingly ; I am YHWH your God.”

Now think about how this relates to our lives...

You are not to engage in what the things from the land you came from - Mitzriem - sin!!

“you are not to engage”....
What is engage is to do something in your heart... instead of really doing it....  or what is engaging is about what you allow in... like watching sin on TV...  engaging may be watching tv shows that have homosexuality going on .... or other sin?....

How much do i “engage” in because i am so desensitized?

I spoke at a retreat last night - a church’s youth group - girls...  and the leaders were asking if i had seen the movie “frozen” yet.

“NO” of course i hadn’t... and they went on to tell me how wonderful it is...  nobody mentioned that it is full of witchcraft....
It really doesn’t occur to them that this is a problem.

Why? ...b/c they don’t the know the Torah well enough to understand what they are seeing - let alone that they probably shouldn’t be putting that into themselves.

But what things have we “engaged” in b/c we are still so accustomed to the mitzriem in our culture?...
WE might just want to pray about this and asked Abba - what these things are in our lives... to get cleaned up before Pesach.  Amein.

Let’s talk about the Moeds/set apart times / feasts of YHWH...

Pesach = 4/14,
Chag Hamatzot /Unleavened Bread = 4/15- 4/21
Chag HaBikkirum /First Fruits  = 4/20
counting the Omer - with Shavuot on June 8, 2014.

Vayikra 23: 4-21 cjb p 136

Pesach /Passover =
Daniel 9:25 “Seven weeks of years will elapse between the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until an anointed Prince comes.”
“7 weeks of years” = 173,880 days.
This is the EXACT number of Days from the decree for Nehemiah to rebuild Jerusalem until the day – Nissan 10 where Yahshua wept and rode the colt into Jerusalem in Luke 19:41. The rabbis knew that day was THEE day of the coming of Messiah.

At 3:00 that afternoon is when the father would take the family lamb to the door step (what happened on the door step determined what god you served) and sacrificed it and drained the blood.
Also at this time, the curtain of the Holy of Holies was torn.
This can be seen 2 ways.
1. Yahshua tore down the separation that kept us from being with YHWH.
2. As tradition of the day, if someone tore his garments, he was showing great grief and distress – as was YHWH at the time of His son’‛s death.
The day of “preparation” 14th of Nisan, when the homes were scoured of all leaven (sin) and a preparation of food was readied for the Passover meal, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Mark 15:42, Luke 23:54, John 19:14,31,42).

Chag haMatzot / Feast of Unleavened Bread

April 15-21
This feast is a reminder of YHWH’s miraculous deliverance from Egyptian bondage...
... and when Isra’el fled Mitzriem /Egypt, in the middle of the night there was no time for bread dough to rise.

So YHWH commanded “Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, that is, the bread of affliction (for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste) that you may remember the day in which you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.” (D’varim 16:3 and Sh’mot/Exodus 12:39)

In fact....
D’varim /Deuteronomy 16:1-8 cjb p 215

Chametz... (source: Biblically Kosher by Aaron Eby)

Sh’mot /Exodus 12:15 cjb “For seven days you are to eat matzah (matzos) - on the first day removed the leaven (se’or) from your houses.  For whoever eats c/hametz [leavened bread] (chametz) from the first to the seventh day is to be cut off from Isra’el.”

There are three terms in this verse:

Matzah - translated “unleavened bread”
Se’or - translated “leaven”
Chametz - translated “what is leavened” or “leavened bread”

These translations can be misleading... “The Hebrew terms do not refer to “leaven” or “leavening” in the sense that we use the word today.” - Eby

Chametz - refers to products made of certain kinds of grain/s that have come in contact with water and are allowed to sit for a period of time before being cooked.  - Not just fluffy bread, but noodles, cookies, drinks...

Se’or - refers to an inedible lump of starter dough that contains a high concentration of yeast.  Yeast itself is not chametz or se’or.

Matzah - is flat bread that is made with flour and water and baked quickly at high temperatures.  This ends the biochemical processes that would otherwise make it chametz.

~
What NOT to eat....

Wheat, barley, oats, spelt, rye.

Vinegar - unless pure wine vinegar.  Do not eat things with grain vinegar in them like mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise

Beer

All baked goods with the above grains in them.  pastas, crackers, flour tortillas, pretzels etc.

(This is not definitive, but is a basic list.)

*
This is one of three feasts that all the men were required to go to Jerusalem.

-The Word gives only 3 instructions for the Feast of Matzah...
Special sacrifices were to be offered in the Temple each day of the feast (Vayikra 23:8, B’midbar /Numbers 28:19-24)
The first and 7th days of the feast are sabbaths with prohibitions on all work (Sh’mot 12:16; Vayikra 23:7-8; B’midbar 28:25; D’varim 16:8).
Leaven was strictly forbidden ... not just to be eaten but in your home.... There are six passages that make this clear... (Sh’mot 12:14-20; 13:6-8; 23:15; 34:18; Vayikra 23:6; D’varim 16:3,8).

I Corinthians 5:6-7 cjb p 1427
“Your boasting is not good.  Don’t you know the saying, “It takes only a little chametz to leaven a whole batch of dough?” 7 Get rid of the old chametz, so that you can be anew  new batch of dough, because in reality you are unleavened.  For our Pesach lamb. the Messiah, has been sacrificed.  8 So let us celebrate the Seder not with leftover chametz, the chametz of wickedness and evil, but with the matzah of purity and truth.”

Shaul is saying... that he is shocked that Corinthian believers were still partaking of their old sins.
It does no good to simply get rid of the large conspicuous  loaves on the table and leave the little pieces of leaven scattered on the floor ...
...a little leaven will contaminate everything else... get rid of it!

He is saying what we see in Romans 6:1-18 cjb p 1408...  that as believers in Messiah - we are not under the power of sin... it has been broken off... because Messiah died and rose!

In YHWH’s sight - we are not unleavened = justified and pure... and we don’t have to be walking in sin any more!

Chag haBikkirum / Feast of First Fruits

controversy of the date...
16th day of Nissan  or the day after the last shabbat of Unleavened Bread.
The current Hebrew calendars say that this year it is...April 20.

First Fruits marked the beginning of the cereal grain harvest in Isra’el.

Barley was the first grain to ripen of those sown in the winter months.

For First Fruits - a sheaf of barley was harvested and brought tot he Temple as a thanksgiving offering to YHWH for the harvest.

It represented the barley harvest as a whole and served as a pledge or guarantee that the remainder of the harvest would be realized in the days that followed.

First Fruits is seen as a time marker...counting down 50 days to Shavuot. (Vayikra 23:15-16).
Sefirat Ha-Omer - the Counting of the Omer”

What is it really about?...
Messianic Jews 9:24-26 cjb p 1502
“For the Messiah has entered a Holiest Place which is not man-made and merely a copy of the true one, but into haven itself, in order to appear now on our behalf in the very presence of God.  Further, he did  not enter heaven to offer himself over and over again, like the cohen hagadol who enters the Holiest Place year after year with blood that is not his own; for then he would have had to suffer death many times - fro the founding of the universe on.  But as it is, he has appeared once at the end of the ages in order to do away with sin through the sacrifice of himself.”

Amein.

Blood moons...

We have talked about them before...but i want to make sure you are aware...

B’re’shiyt 1:14 cjb p 1
“Elohiym said ‘Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to divide the day from the night; let them be for signs (“ot”), seasons (“moed”), days and years;”

We talked about how things in the sky happen all the time.... but when the things YHWH put in the sky as signs... happen on the moed... the set apart times/ the feasts, this is really important...

So when the signs are on the Feast days - we should be paying attention because YHWH is telling us something!

There are a total of 4 blood moons coming back to back and falling on feast days...

Starting this Pesach ...

Pesach 2014  - April 14 = lunar eclipse = blood moon

Sukkot 2014 = lunar eclipse  = blood moon on first of Sukkot

Then on Nissan 1 (March 20, 2015 - the beginning of the religious calendar year.....(The day that Moshe set up the tabernacle and fire/glory fell from heaven) = total solar eclipse.

2 weeks later...

Pesach 2015 = lunar eclipse = blood moon

Yom Teruah 2015 - the beginning of the civil calendar year = total solar eclipse

Sukkot 2015 = lunar eclipse = blood moon

~
What is the history of this happening??

4 blood moons on Pesach and Sukkot

1.  1967-1968 - The 6 Day War

2.  1492 When the Jews were kicked out of Spain and came to the “new world”

3.   in 70 AD....  when the Temple was destroyed.

This will not happen again for over 100 years.

~
COMET
Also in 69-70 AD, Josephus said  in “War of Jews” ... a comet continued for almost a year.

We’ve had Comet Ison - since Nov 2013...
Scientists are saying this could be the largest and brightest comet in all of history...

~
Conjunction of three planets...

Oct 2015 there will be a conjunction of three planets... and it will be seen under the feet of the lion of the tribe of Judah.
Jupiter = Hassidic = righteousness = King of Righteousness
Venus = the bright and morning star = Yahshua
Mercury = the messenger

-The last 2 times this happened was in
1967 and 1948 - both times there was war in Isra’el.

**
Remember
Astrology - is all about me and not biblical
Astronomy - is all about YHWH

Daniel the prophet was an Astrotnomist... It is said that the wealth that the “wise men” brought Yahshua at his birth, was Daniels...
**

We don’t know what is going to happen....
but if there are signs / “ot” on the moeds/ feasts... we had better be paying attention... b/c YHWH says he gives us the signs and the seasons.... so we know what time it is... to watch the heavens ... on the feast days....

Now i will say that they are saying the blood moons will be visible from all of the USA but not Isra’el.
I don’t know what that means....  but they are on the feast days....

**

So i invite you to pay attention to the signs (“ot) and the seasons (“moed’)  - so that you don’t miss what YHWH is doing.

I invite you to clean your “house” /body and your home - of chametz...  sin.

and i invite you to consider what chametz you are engaging in in this land that is pagan and full of sin...

and ask YHWH what needs to be cleaned up and get the cleaning - the teshuvah done so you are ready for Pesach.

**
Also please remember that in the back of your Complete Jewish Bibles... on page 1622 - are listed the Torah parashahs for Pesach and chag hamatzot and chag habikkirum.
