27 B’re’shiyt 1:7
Torah parashah: Re’eh - “See” or “Behold”
D’varim 11:26-16:17 cjb p 210
******
B’re’shiyt 1:7
p 29 in your study guide.
“Vay-yas Elohiym ‘et - haraqiya’ vay-yav’del beyn ham-mayim ‘asher mit-tachat laraqiya’ uveyn ham-mayim ‘asher me’al laraqiya vay’hiy ken.”
“And made Elohiym the firmament, and divided between the waters which were under the firmament between the waters which were above the firmament: so And it was.”
~~
Last week we talked about ‘mit-tachat’ ... and how tachat is = “instead of” = the anti-messiah.
Brad Scott said that...
“Yochanan reveals to us in the Scripture that the mashiach tachat is in the world.... and he has prepared the world spiritually -
---In other words - he has prepared people to receive a mashiach unlike the Mashiach presented in the Torah.”
This “is why we teach the Word, and we are to obey all His Torah.”
“We see lie after lie - traditions of the church that are not biblical.... the traditions of man - not keeping Sabbath and the Moedim of YHWH - the Feasts of YHWH... and replacing them with man’s traditions.... replacing the nature of what the Mashiach did on the stake - with the nature of a mashiach who did something else on the stake.”
“The Messiah who hung on the stake in the Torah is the one who died for our sins.”
“The christ who hung on the cross - according to modern christian theology, is the one who ended the instructions of Torah/YHWH on that cross!”
- “THAT is the spirit of the mashiach tachat already in the world, deceiving the world and changing the nature of the true Mashiach.”
~
The next word in B’re’shiyt 1:7 is...
laraqiya’= the firmament or what is in the middle
uveyn = between - literally means understanding or discernment between the waters under the firmament, and the waters above the firmament
The waters below the firmament - represent the earthly things, while waters above firmament - represent the heavenly things.
~
The next words:
ham-mayim = the waters
‘asher = which were
~~
Then we come to a new word:
me’al = translated here as “above”
root = ‘al - pronounced “hal”
It is a tzadi and a lamed
It means /is translated as... (preposition) = upon, above, over, beyond,
and in a couple of places = on high (Most High)
Hoshea 7:16; 11:7 = “Most High”
‘al = means “up”
~
Brad says “There are things above and things below... and YHWH’s desire is not that we live one place or the other to the exclusion of the other... but rather
....to live in below and see above, in order to change the things below....
This is the same comparison as - “spirit and soul”
= Yah changes the spirit - but his desire is not to separate the spirit and the soul... that is why He says in
1 Thessalonians 5:23 cjb p 1476 - spirit - soul - body...
“May the Elohiym of shalom make you completely holy - may your entire spirit, soul and body be kept blameless for the coming of our Lord Yahshua the Mashiach.”
This is why when you reach out to YHWH and teshuva (repent) -
- and say ‘i want You to be - not just my savior but my Lord and my King’... when you do that, YHWH does something to your spirit -
- He makes it holy -
- He abides in you and He makes the very inmost being of you - comparable to the most holy place in the Tabernacle...
- and He expects that holiness to begin to transform your mind.
- What ever you do physically - it has to happen in your soul -
- Even what you understand and say - it will effect all of you - spirit, soul and body.
The soul area - This is where the battle is all the time - and what happens in that battle is that we believe lies.
.... It is there from those lies that we get wrong practice, wrong teaching, wrong thinking.
Brad says... “This is a picture of what YHWH is drawing, through His actions, in creation... and He is setting the pattern of how to deal with it.
Wow! Think, if we would have understood this a long time ago!!
But praise Yah that we are learning it now!!
~
Back to B’re’shiyt 1:7 - YHWH ends this verse by saying he is going to separate the waters - those which are under, from those which are above...
and ... “KEN” = the next word
ken = And it was pronounced “cain”
It is from the Hebrew word ‘kin’ = kaph-vav-nun
Is translated as - ‘so, yes, thus, to be ready, therefore, established, set in order, to prepare.’
this word in Hebrew today, is “YES” ( while - ‘lo’ = “low” = no or not)
Divre-Ha Yamim Bet / 2 Chronicles 29:35 cjb p 1213 = “To set in order” = “restored” in cjb
Miz’mor /psalm 107:36 - “Prepared” cjb p 902 = “build”
Miz’mor 93:1 cjb p 885 -“established”
Y’sha’Yahu 9:7 - “prepared” cjb p 450 = “to secure it”
Sh’mot 19:11 - “be ready” cjb p 81 “and prepare”
Ma’sey hashSh’liyechiym / Acts 15:16 “set it up” cjb p 1381 “rebuild”
“After this, I will return: and I will rebuild the fallen tent of David. I will rebuild its ruins, I will restore it,”
Mizmor 57:7 - “fixed” cjb p 846 =“prepared”
- as in the firmament being placed equal distance between the waters.
~~
and then the last word in B’re’shiyt 1:7 =
vay’hiy = we’ve already had in B’re’shiyt 1:2.
It means = so, became

Torah Parashah:
Re’eh - “See” or “Behold”
D’varim 11:26-16:17 cjb p 210
We need to remember before we start in ... the book of D’varim is Moshe’s final directions to Yisra’el before Moshe goes off to die and they go into the Promised Land.
I love this book... the passion and intensity of which Moshe speaks.
It so reminds me of the countless talks i have had with athletes before they go off to their event at important competitions.......
But here we are in D’varim 11:26....
In this portion Moshe is reminding Yisra’el of instructions...
I want to focus on a couple parts...
- D’varim 14:3-21 cjb p 213
This is a reminder of what to eat and what not to eat.
Let’s back up a bit and look at
- D’varim 12:22-23 cjb p 211
“...Eat it as you would gazelle or deer; the unclean and the clean alike may eat it. Just take care not to eat the blood, for the blood is the life, and you are not to eat the life with the meat.”
Now we have learned before that eating blood has always been a pagan / occultic covenant ceremony.
We see that Complete Jewish Bible says... “for the blood is the life”
But what the Torah says in Hebrew, directly translated is...
“Be steadfast - you to so as not to eat of the blood that the blood is the soul.”
“THE BLOOD IS THE SOUL”
This might be a big part of why YHWH doesn’t want us eating the blood!!
********
Since we did not meet last shabbat - i want to share something i learned from last week’s Torah portion...
D’varim 10: 12-13 cjb p 209
“So now, Yisra’el, all that YHWH your Elohiym asks from you is to fear YHWH your Elohiym, follow all his ways, love him and serve YHWH your Elohiym with all your heart and all your being; 13 to obey, for your own good, the mitzvot and regulations of YHWH which I am giving you today.”
We are to ...
1. Fear YHWH
2. follow all his ways
3. love him and serve him with all our hearts and all our beings
- and obey - for our own good- the mitzvot and regulations
Let’s go to
Mishlei /Proverbs 9:10 cjb p 953
“The fear of YHWH is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of holy ones is understanding.”
I have always read this and understood this to say - that i should fear YHWH...
Now, mind you, we’ve always clarified that fear as “reverential fear and awe”
But i always thought it was about me fearing Him.
What if that is not the case?? !!!!
What it says is “The fear of YHWH”
This is written with 2 consecutive nouns....
and when a noun precedes a noun this means it is in a “construct state” = meaning the first noun is connected to the 2nd noun = better said... these two words are forming one concept.
This word - FEAR - here is a yod- resh -resh-tov
It is written in English = Yirat.
so the 2 nouns would be :
YIRAT YHWH
YIRAT comes from YARA
YARA means :
“To flow out of the gut.”
That would mean YIRAT YHWH ... “the fear of YHWH”....
is talking about something flowing out of the gut of YHWH.
WHAT??!!!
This isn’t about me fearing HIM at all?
Nope.
NOPE!!!
“To flow out of the gut of YHWH”
... what flows out of the gut of YHWH??!!!
Well, let’s find out...
Mizmor /Psalms 1:2 cjb p 791
“Their delight is in YHWH’s Torah...”
Shof’tim /Judges 3:10 cjb p 272
“The Spirit of YHWH came upon him...”
What flows out of YHWH?
His Torah and His Ruach /Spirit...
So a better translation of Mishlei 9:10 =
“The flowing of YHWH is the beginning of wisdom and an intimate relationship with the special one is understanding.” !!!!!
So let’s take this back to last week’s Torah parashah:
D’varim 10: 12-13 cjb p 209
“So now, Yisra’el, all that YHWH your Elohiym asks from you is to fear YHWH your Elohiym, follow all his ways, love him and serve YHWH your Elohiym with all your heart and all your being; 13 to obey, for your own good, the mitzvot and regulations of YHWH which I am giving you today.”
directly translated :
“ and now Yisra’el what? YHWH Elohiym of you asking from with you except only to fear of YHWH Elohiym of you to walk in all of way sof him and to love of Him and to serve of YHWH Elohiym in all of heart of you, and in all of soul of you.
~
The word FEAR here - is the same Hebrew word that is in Mishlei /Proverbs 9:10... YIRAT which comes from YARA
which means “ to flow out of the gut of YHWH”
So what i understand is... if i am going to be able to love YHWH and serve him and obey him with all my heart and soul and might... with my heart and my life...
Then i have to embrace what flows from HIM - the Torah and the Ruach!
So this is not about what i thought - fearing him... not even saying to have reverential fear and awe of YHWH...
it is saying... that i need to embrace what flows out of YHWH - His TORAH and His RUACH!!!
DO WE DO THAT?
DO WE EMBRACE - DO WE RUN HARD AFTER HIS TORAH AND HIS RUACH? !!

*************************************
Now i want to share with you something i learned in my class on Thursday night....
We are going to learn the core of the Tanakh !!
My professor - Rabbi John Fischer, Ph.D., Th.D. said...
The main point of the Tanakh is B’re’shiyt 12
This is the calling of Avraham. cjb p 11.
In B’re’shiyt 12-50 is all about Avraham’s life and family...
with chapter 12 being the introduction...
We need to remember that Avraham and his family lived in UR... just off the Persian Gulf...
at that time UR may have had a quarter of a million people... it was thee big city of its day...
Ur was the home of polytheism and astrology (amongst other things).
So let’s rearrange the room a bit... so we can “map out” the middle east...
Over here... (south east corner...) coming of of the Persian Gulf are 2 major rivers - the Tigress and the Euphrates....
and somewhere near where they join is UR.
{If you can’t remember the name of his city... you have to say ... “UMM... URRR... UMMM URRRR....”}
and this is where YHWH speaks to Avraham.
...and YHWH said... Ave... it’s time to go....
And so Avraham and his family = THE SALT OF THE EARTH
move out of UR...
Who are THE SALT OF THE EARTH ?
= Sarah, Avraham, Lot and Terrah.
YHWH didn’t say where they were to go... so Ave heads up to Harran and stops to get a drink at a local oasis... and Terrah dies there.
{Harran is over on the mid western side of our “map”}
And the journey continues to the land of Canaan
{ a bit more north and east}
When the arrive in Canaan, Ave is about 65 (?) years old.
(WE know from counting back from the time we know the temple was built that Avraham was born about 2,166 BCE.)
10 years later - Ave has a son - Ishimael.
and then when Ave is about 100 years old - his son Yitz’chak (Isaac) is born. (2,066 BCE)
Then Yitz’chak has two sons - Esau and Ya’Akov
- Ya’Akov is born when Yitz’chak is about 60 (2,006 BCE)
Esau and Ya'akov = Esau and Jacob.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YHWH had said.. my plan and promises are to come through Yitz’chak / Isaac and not Ishmael.
And then YHWH says my plan is to come through Ya’akov and not Esau.
And so we see YHWH’s promises coming through the younger and not the older.
(This is HUGE CHANGE from the culture and nations around them!!)
This is the foundation of the struggle in the Middle East today!!
If you understand this - then you can understand what is going on today!...
.... Ishmael’s descendants are fighting with the descendants of Yitz’chak for the land of Avraham!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How many kids did Yah’kov have?... at least 13 b/c we know he had at least one daughter.
Of all those kids Joseph / Yosef is the one we know best.
Yoseph - this kid goes from shepherd to slave to supervisor to prince...
Yoseph goes from shepherd to being literally sold “down river” - the river nile...
to south east area of map....
You could have an advertising on the internet that said... “vigorous young man for sale strong but occasionally day dreams”...
Later his family in 1876 BCE - Yisra’el / - Jacob/ Ya’akov and his family - 70 people - move down to Yosef and Egypt.
They were there approx 400 years... and at the end they were about 2 MILLION strong... (we know they had 600 K fighting men!)
And a new Pharaoh comes along and doesn’t like the Hebrews and enslaves them.
and in 1,446 BCE - YHWH sends a deliverer = Moshe.
Moshe leads them out of Egypt into the desert in 1,446 BCE and then leads them to the borders of Canaan - the Promised Land...
{back North}
Here they get to Kadish barnai - we could think of it as “Katy’s bar”... because here, the trouble begins...
Now they are near 2 bodies of water - the Sea of Galilee and the dead sea...and between them... is the Jordan River.
Moshe brings the people to the Jordan River and here he sends in 12 spies... one from each of the tribes...
The check out the land and return with a report...
2 people are for going in - Caleb and Joshua
and 10 are for running away -
So YHWH says you are going to wander and die in the desert - 40 years.
Moshe leads them back to the side of the Jordan River after 40 years...
and Joshua leads them into the Promised Land.
and the first thing they have to do is conquer Jericho.
So we have 3 Js... Joshua - Jordan - Jericho!
and what follows that?
the period of Judges...
so we have 4 Js...
Joshua - Jordan - Jericho - Judges!
Judges is a time period in which the people forgot how they got there (the Promised Land) and who (YHWH) brought them out of Mitzriem /Egypt... and so they wondered away and YHWH sent them a reminder...
... an emeny who would oppress and defeat them ...
so liberators were sent - Judges... Sampson and Deborah etc....
and this is a roller coaster period of YHWH’s people following him and then not and then following him.... for about 350 years.
You can envision a roller coaster with “350” on the front car...
The roller coaster of the period of Judges finally stops at “KING CITY”
where the people clean up their act - at least for awhile...
and this is where we have :
Saul - David - Solomon = “SDS”
This is simple... and then it gets complicated when Solomon dies.
Solomon JR = Rehoboam is not up to the task of being King of all of Isra’el... so Jeroboam leads a rebellion.
{J comes before R}
and the North (Kingdom of Isra’el) succeeds from the South (Kindom of Yahuda/Judah)
{N comes before S}
= Civil War.
What happens next?
{WE need 20/20 vision to see clear}
There were 20 Kings in the North and
20 Kings in the South.
200 years later... the Northern Kingdom - Isra’el runs into trouble... Assyria conquers the Northern Kingdom of Isra’el and takes the 10 tribes back to Assyria.
100 years later, Babylon, who has just taken over Assyria comes in and conquers Judah and takes them to Babylon
{Assyria - Babylon - captivity = ABC}
Eventually King Sirus tells Judah to go home ... and for about 100 years, some 50 k people are led back to the land by Zerubabul , then Ezra and then Neamiah.
and some 400 years later - Yahshua comes
Those 400 years are called the silent years... but they are anything but silent!
That’s the whole story.
Remember that story!!
So Avraham begins about year 2k BCE
and then Moshe about year 1500 BCE
David about year 1000 BCE
Ezra about year 500 BCE
*********************************************
So let’s walk through that one more time:
This is the calling of Avraham. cjb p 11.
In B’re’shiyt 12-50 is all about Avraham’s life and family...
