25 B’re’shiyt - B’re’shiyt 1:7
Torah Parashah #45 Va’etchanan (I pleaded)
D’varim (Deuteronomy) 3:23-7:11 cjb p 200

B’re’shiyt teaching number 26!!
page 29 in your study guide...

Last week we started with

B’re’shiyt 1:7

“Vay-ya’as Elohiym ‘et - haraqiya’ vay-yav’del beyn ham-mayim ‘asher mit-tachat laraqiya’ uveyn ham-mayim ‘asher me’al laraqiya’ vay’hiy ken.”

“And made Elohiym the firmament, and divided between the waters which were under the firmament between the waters which were above the firmament: so And it was.”

~
... and last week we talked about -

Vay-ya’as = root is asah = to make to do, to prepare, perform, fulfill, appoint, rearrange

and then we talked about davar hilmad me’anino = where the second part expands on the first

~
So today we are starting with the second word of B’re’shiyt 1:7

Then we have  the word
Elohiym  = God

and ET  =  aleph Tov - Yahshua the Messiah

~
The next word is

 haraqiya  -

Ha = “the” …
 = the raqiya….
raqiya = being the expanse that is divided : the middle…

Remember  this statement here is an expansion of the statement that Yah already made in verse 6 = a davar hilmad me’anino.

He already said let there be a division/ expanse between the waters and now He is going to say - “and God made the firmament and God divided between the waters…which were under the firmament”
~
The next word is
vay-yav’del = and divided (first in 1:4)
~
Then is the word -
beyn = between

~
the word -‘asher - a participle = which or who
- in this context b/c it is speaking of inanimate objects it is “which were”

~
Then we come to a new word... at the top of page 30 in study guide...

Mit-tachat = translated here as the word “under”

root = tachat  - tet chet tet

generally translated as = under, instead of, in place of.
(the mashiach tachat = the anti messiah)

The literal meaning = “something in place of something - something instead of something.”

It is where we get the word -  “understudy”

B’re’shiyt 4:25 cjb p 5  = is “a famous ‘instead of’” - Abel was already killed by Cain, and Seth is born….    and Chava says.. “For God has granted me another seed in place of Hevel Abel.”  =
“in place of” = tachat

The whole idea here in B’re’shiyt 1:7 ...
is that we have the waters above which is going to represent things heavenly…
...and then we have waters and things under or below…

this is why tachat is used b/c the “understudy” is positionally below the lead actor, if you will…. it is positional…

By nature the one that is under wants to take the place of that which is above …

...We are going to see that picture throughout the rest of scripture with jealousy and power struggle and heavenly battles taking place where hasatan desires to like YHWH…

The real lead actor is Yahshua…and there is a mashiach tachat (anti Messiah)

The whole idea of anti messiah is not so much that he is against him or even that he is the opposite of him...
.... but that he wants to be “instead of” the Messiah!!

B’re’shiyt 22:13  cjb p 21… Avraham’s Akeida
Avraham takes Yitz’chak to the mountain…  22:8 - Yah will provide himself for a offering…
vs 12, 13 God did not allow Avraham to slay his son his “only” son…
vs 13 - ram stuck in thicket

Remember the root for God or Elohiym  -EL -

Well this is so amazing.....
EL is based on the word for ram… and the reason being ...
is that the ram represents power

- it’s that creative power of Elohiym that is rooted in the ram and so in order to further express what Yah is going to do on that hill 2000 years later… not only does he provide himself as the lamb… but we have this ram - the EL … caught in the thicket.. and Avraham offered the ram up - the EL up in the tachat - instead of or in place of his son….

 1 Yochanan 4:3  cjb p 1527
... “and every spirit which does not acknowledge Yahshua -is not from YHWH - in fact, this is the spirit of the Mashiach -tachat  (anti Messiah).  You have heard that he is coming.  Well, he’s here now, in the world already!”

  • Here, we have the anti messiah appearing in the first epistle of Yochanan and mentioning in the following verses  that the spirit of the mashiach tachat is already in the world…

  • We already know, according to other scripture that there will be an actual physical manifestation

( 2 Thessalonians 2  cjb p 1478 also talks about that but Yochanan reveals to us as he speaks.. there is a spirit of mashiach tachat.)

 What he is saying is that in order for people to follow the mashiach tachat  - he has prepared the world spiritually ...
  • In other words - he has prepared people to receive a mashiach unlike the Mashiach presented in the Torah…

Let me say that again....he has prepared people to receive a mashiach unlike the Mashiach presented in the Torah…

You might say... “Janet, are you kidding me??  That is crazy!!!...”

Yep, not kidding.

This is exactly why we teach the Word and we are to obey all his Torah !!!

 We see lie after lie - traditions of the church that are not biblical!!!….

Whar are the traditions of the church that are not biblical??!!

They are the traditions of man....  which would be  -- not keeping Sabbath and/or the Moedim of YHWH = the Feasts of YHWH… and replacing them with man’s traditions….

.....REPLACING -  the nature of what Yahshua  HaMashiach did on the stake ....

..... with the nature of a mashiach who did something else on the cross!!!

  • Now i am going to say something that will be very challenging for some people.... but truth is truth....
The Messiah who hung on the stake in the Torah is the one who died for our sins…

....BUT the christ who hung on the cross - according to modern christian theology  - is the one who ended the instructions of the Torah of YHWH on the cross!

........  and THAT is the spirit of the mashiach tachat already in the world, deceiving the world and changing the nature of the true Mashiach.
(Brad Scott says...“I will continue to pound that  -- until someone shoots me dead.”)

This is why Jewish people can’t follow the christian jesus....
..... b/c the christian jesus - according to christian teachings and even some christian bibles... came to END THE TORAH!!!

 ......This is Mashiach tachat!!!!

2 Thessalonians 2:8 cjb p 1479 is also about the mashiach tachat
“Then the one who embodies separation from Torah, will be revealed, the one whom the Lord Yahshua will slay with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the glory of his coming.”

Galatians 3:25 cjb p 1455 “under” = “tachat”
Now this is different!!...
The word “tachat” is used to show that the Messiah is instead of Torah.
BUT -  pay close attention here...
What we mean by “instead of Torah” is .....rather than Torah being etched in stone tablets - we have the Word of  YHWH written in our hearts of flesh!!

….Yahshua did not get rid of the 613 instructions - rather He is the physical manifestation of these Words!

  • in other words…  instead of the commandments being just on stone - they came in the flesh as Yahshua the Messiah .

  • In this way -  Yahshua is “instead of - tachat”…  this is all over scripture -

Yechezk’el /Ezekiel 36:26  cjb p 690
“I will give you a new heart (new wind/ ruach) and put a new spirit inside you; I will take the stony heart out of your flesh and give you  a heart of flesh.”

- a new heart - a new spirit….
This is a picture that the law /instructions will not be just on stone but in us!

We need to look to the new Jerusalem  and the Messiah…. He will give you the heart and nature and Spirit of YHWH in the flesh…  He is sending the Messiah… that is -  the true Mashiach…

The “instead of Mashiach” the anti messiah - the  Mashiach tachat - convinces most - that YHWH has gotten rid of the instructions… and that is because the instructions/ laws are life!!!

Mashiach tachat = death - he destroys and steals and kills.

and according to

Daniel 7:25  cjb p 1110 - he changes the times and seasons and the commandments…
“He will speak words against the Most High and try to exhaust the holy ones of the Most High.  He will attempt to alter the seasons and the law; and [the holy ones] will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time.”

so that is a false Mashiach... the Mashiach tachat.

~~
So… getting back to the B’re’shiyt teaching…

...  The waters that are under are representing the things of the earth - as opposed to or “instead of” the heavenly things.

There will be a distinction not only of light and darkness… but what is above and what is below.

Only the Word of YHWH divides and makes a distinction between the heart and soul…

His desire is to bring them together…
how do you do that?
....... by brining down the things of heaven b/c the things of earth will never be able to reach up to heaven

you don’t ignore the soulish earthily things -
- you change them by the Word of YHWH…

The number of this day is the 2nd day - here in B’re’shiyt 1:7...
and this day - unlike all the other days except for the 7th day , is not declared ‘good’.
Yah is not going to call this day ‘good’ and there is a specific reason why he doesn’t call it good.

*************************************************

Let’s go to the Torah Parashah for today...

D’varim 3:23- 7:11 cjb p 200

“Va’etchanan” - “I pleaded”

This parashah starts out with Moshe PLEADING to YHWH - to be able to go into the promised land...

Finally YHWH sends him up Mt Pisgah so Moshe can see the land, but he can never go in it....

D’varim 4:1 cjb p 200
“Now Isra’el, listen to the laws and rulings i am teaching you  in order to follow them, so that you will live; ....”

read
D’varim 4:28 - 40 cjb p 202
{D’varim 4:40 cjb p 202.... “Therefore, you are to keep his laws and mitzvot which i am giving you today, so that it will go well with you and with your children after you, so that you will prolong your days in the land YHWH your Elohiym is giving you forever.”

Why keep the Word / teaching / Torah / instructions/ mitzvot /  laws....?????

“So that you will with you...... and ..... So that it will go well with you and your children after you... so that you will prolong your days in the land of YHWH your Elohiym is giving you forever.”

HMMM.....

Maybe we should take this very seriously....

**
Rabbi David Fohrman makes some interesting points i’d like to share with you about the 10 Commandments....

2 tablets....

Look at half on one and half on the other... (line them up)

Tablet 1:

1.  I am YHWH your Elohiym

2.  No idolatry

3.  Do not take YHWH’s name in vain

4.  Honor the Sabbath

5.  Honor your father and mother

Tablet 2

  1. Do not murder

  1. No adultery

  1. Do not steal

  1. Do not bear false witness

  1. Do not covet

*

The first tablet is about relationship with the Creator

and the second tablet is about relationship with people.

~
Notice the Honor your Father and Mother - on the relationship with the Creator.  = My parents in a sense, are my creators and they are above me....  they are authority figures...

~~

We’ve just looked at the 10 Commandments at one level...
let’s look at them at a second level....

What if the ones on the first tablet line up with / are related to the ones on the second tablet...  like mirror images of each other...

So that would mean...

  1. I am the YHWH your Elohiym  lines up with  6 Do not murder

How are they related?....  Some fundamental way  - these are the same thing...
a desire to murder...  well that might not be what you choose ...

That would be getting rid of them objectively...
so instead - you get rid of them subjectively....  you ignore a person..

and what do we do since we can’t kill YHWH?....

people can just  ignore YHWH...

do not ignore... deal with the person...

and deal with YHWH :)

~
  1. No idolatry   --- 7.  No adultery

= Don’t betray a sacred relationship

There are 2 sacred relationships...  worship of YHWH by people, and marriage....

Idolatry betrays the sacred relationship between YHWH and people

Adultery betrays a sacred relationship of marriage.

~
Are you starting to see how the 2 tablets are related...???

What about the 3rd one...

3.  Do not take YHWH’s name in vain 8.  Do not steal

Taking YHWH’s name in vain is is stealing from YHWH....  stealing respect and honor and that most high place in our lives.....
~
  1. Honor the Sabbath 9.  Do not bear false witness

Look at this one....
If i am not keeping the Shabbat - then i am bearing false witness!!

~
  1. Honor your father and mother 10. Do not covet

If I am coveting something - I am wanting something I do not have.
If i am not honoring my parents - respecting them etc... then my focus is NOT on them... as in taking care of them, lifting them up with resect... and i am busy looking at something else - making something else be a desire... instead of desiring to please and bless my parents.

~~~~
Do you see how they relate side by side... ?  That is the 2nd level of looking at this scripture.
Now let’s consider the 3rd level of understanding this scripture...
The 3rd level - is how does the first line lead to the second line to the third line...
  1. I am the YHWH your Elohiym  lines up with  6 Do not murder
  1. No idolatry   --- 7.  No adultery
I have to have the first... to have the second....
look at the third row...
3.  Do not take YHWH’s name in vain 8.  Do not steal
and the 4th...
  1. Honor the Sabbath 9.  Do not bear false witness
and 5th...
  1. Honor your father and mother 10. Do not covet
Do you see that if you don’t have the first level - you can’t do the second and if you don’t have the first two then you can’t do the 3rd... and if you don’t have the first three.... etc.....  ?????
~
And finally to switch gears a second....
i have to point out that the Sh’ma is in Torah Parashah.
D’varim 6: 4-9
26 July 2014  ~  28 Tammuz 5774
25th B’re’shiyt teaching by Brad Scott... B’re’shiyt 1:6 continued....
Torah Parashah Masa’ei - Stages
B’midbar 33:1 - 36:13  cjb p 191
***
Let’s start with the B’re’shiyt teaching:
We are still in B’re’shiyt 1:6, page 27 of your study guide.
B’re’shiyt 1:6
“Vay’yo’mer Elohiym yi’hiy raqiya’ b’tok’ ham-mayim viyhiy mav’diyl beyn mayim lamayim.”
“And said Elohiym let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”
Last Shabbat we discussed:
 RAQI’A = to pound or beat - to squash or flatten - firmament
and
  B’TOK - center, midst, equidistant from the lie as from the truth; mixed.
And as you look in your study guide that is all the new words in the verse....
and this is going to seem confusing at first... but what we are learning is that words can be spelled slightly different - like with a veit or a beit, or a ha or a va etc.....
So let’s review the rest of the words in the verse:
Ham-mayim
ham = of the
mayim = waters
viyhiy = and let it
mav’diyl = to divide
first in 1:4 as vay-yav’del = and divided
beyn = between
mayim = waters
lamayim =
la = (from) the
mayim = waters.
Remember - the bottom of page 27 in study guide:
Brad writes...  “An explanse pounded or stretched out thin as in the pounding of dought.  The expanse would be the extremely thin atmosphere left firmly between the waters.  So the expanse contains water vapors which man and other creatures will need to live.
Remember also that this is the second day and YHWH does not call day two tov / good.
Why?
It was not a completed work until the waters “baptized” / washed the land - the land came up out of the water - mikvah!
Brad says on study guide p 28 “ Rashi - Elohiym dos not declare the day good for the task of the waters is not complete until the THIRD DAY!!! (the creation is still under the mayim /water.
**
That’s the end of verse 1:6.
page 27 in your study guide:
Let’s start ...
B’re’shiyt 1:7
We stated that in the beginning YHWH created things with his Word - created the invisible - to visible ... and then something dramatic and drastic happened - and it  to fell into ruin and chaos... and then Yah started restoring creation... brining a light - which separates good from evil....
Then we have a separation of the waters...
AND then  we come to the first use of an interpretive term called
davar hilmad me’anino.
So.... let’s start with reading:
Mizmor 119:49-56 cjb p 914
Now let’s go back to p 29 in your study guide and start with:
B’re’shiyt 1:7
“Vay-ya’as  Elohiym  ‘et - haraqiya’ vay-yav’del beyn ham-mayim ‘sher mit-tachat laraqiya’ eveyn  ham-mayim ‘asher me’al laraqiya’  vay’hiy ken.”
“And Elohiym - (ET) made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.”
*
The first word :
VAY-YA’AS - an action....
This is preceded this by.... Vay-yo’mer = “and said” God, in 1:3,
and
Vay-yar’ = “and saw” in 1:4
Vay-yiq’ra’ = “and called” in verse 1:5
are you seeing the similarities in these words!??!!
ASAH = the root of VAYYA’AS
God begins with the creation and no -  “baras” being done to anything for 20 verses (something out of nothing)... until the beast of field... life....
So here in verse 1:7 ... we have God’s axn’s following his words.
ASAH over 2600  times in OT and it is mostly about man’s “doing”
asah = to make, to do, prepare, perform, fulfill, appoint, rearrange
YHWH is the only one that baras... but man and YHWH - Vayya’as.
Here we have - this whole idea about...
....the word matching the deed
- Yah speaks and his word comes forth -  and the action happens....  and something comes forth...
what we have occurring here.. is a
davar hilmad me’aniono =  providing more detail and expanding 1:6 into 1:7. = the second part expands more than the first.
It is an  interpretive method - like PARDES....
this is an example that Yahshua and the Tehillim /Psalms do it, and it is  when the 2nd part gives more detail.
“lead us not into temptation” ...
 but deliver us from evil
 the meaning of “lead us not into temptation “ is expanded in - “deliver us from evil.”
Sh’mot 15:21 cjb p 76... = great example of this....
“....and they went 3 days and found no water...”
now let’s go on to...
15:24-26 = example of davar hilmad me’aniono..
there was a tree at that time , allegedly... that was very sweet and this tree - sweetened waters.
(We do know of a very famous tree that heals... the tree of life - and it is life if you hold it... it is the Words of YHWH....)
Yah is going to use an example.... that if you listen to what i say - none of these things will come upon you... the 2nd part is going to explain in detail what Yah means....
Pay careful attention and carefully read the text  around the hard stuff... this is how the Word is designed.. so you can learn it..
vs 26
if you diligently harken to the voice and do and give ear/ hear... and keep all statutes then i will put none of these diseases upon you...
technically there is a very interesting twist and paradox with respect to tree in waters and making it pure and even the meaning of the word yeal… fafa
the word rafa...
the hebrew word for heal is the same word for disease….!!
Sh’mot 7:6 - “so did they”
Sh’mot 12:48 “we will keep”
Vayyiqra 22:7 “to do”
D’varim 23:23 “to perform”
Ester 5:4 “prepared”
Mishlei /Proverbs 22:2 “maker”
The whole idea is that God is going to set the pattern for man, and His Word and deeds.
“When the Word and deed become one - then we have a biblical truth.”
Remember : a biblical truth is not the same as fact!
Sometimes people confuse facts with Biblical truth.
Just b/c something is true, does not make it biblically true
For example - some people in the world eat their babies...
--- it is true they do that - but that does not mean it is Biblical truth.
Biblical truth is what YHWH declares to be true.
Biblical truth is eternal truth.
It was true when He said it.
It’s true the day after He said it
and it is true today
and it will continue to be true even when we dwell with Him in eternity.
His truth stands forever
but that doesn’t mean that facts are truth - do not confuse the two!
**************************************
Now let’s move to the Torah Parashah:
Torah Parashah Masa’ei - Stages
B’midbar 33:1 - 36:13  cjb p 191
This wraps up B’midbar... and is a retelling of what YHWH did for and with His people.
Remember - last week’s and this week’s and next week’s are basically reviews of what YHWH did for His people Isra’el.
Last week i shared a bit about Gilead....  where the two tribes stayed... and the connection of the words used in the stories of Joseph’s life and the words used in the stories of Ya’Akov’s life are in many times the same words.... and how the place where Ya’Akov was “caught” by Lavaon... and where Ya’Akov cursed Rachel....  and these last two parashahs...  are about the retaking of Gilead....and the mending of relationships between family members...
It will be very complicated if i try to explain it without pictures... but Rabbi Fohrman does a fantastic job at  http://www.aish.com/tp/i/10minuteparsha/Why-Is-The-End-of-Bamidbar-So-Anticlimactic-II.html
So go there and click on the first one before you watch this weeks.  It will be much easier!  :)
~~
Ya’Akov /James 4:1-12 cjb p 1512
Ya’akov 4:11-12 cjb p 1513
“Brothers, stop speaking against each other!  Whoever speaks against a brother or judges a brother is speaking against Torah and judging Torah. And if you judge Torah, you are not a doer of what Torah says, but a judge.  12 There is but one Giver of Torah; he is also the Judge, with the power to deliver and to destroy.  Who do you think you are, judging your fellow human being?”
The commentary from The Aramaic English New Testament regarding
4:11 says...
“if you add your own judgements to those already established in the Torah of YHWH, then you have judged Torah as insufficient, and are not allowing it to be your judge”
and for 4:12 ...
“The Torah Giver who gives One Torah.  The halakh (way to observe Torah)  is revealed by the RUach haKodesh, and demonstrated in Mashiyach.  The concept of “two torahs” - one oral and one written - is the basis of authority on which the Rabbinate operates.  “The Rabbis” wrote their own “oral Torah” and give themselves the authority to interpret it;  unfortunately, their oral Torah often speaks against both the Written Torah and the haMashiyach.  On the other hand, christian theologians have made up their own “new Testament” based on their own non- Torah culture value systems which makes void Torah and diminishes the true goal of Mashiyach.”
~
i want to talk about something i said last week....
The greatest deception in christianity isn’t even that they have the Messiah’s name wrong and they keep pagan holidays....
The greatest deception in christianity is their philosophy of
“Do not judge.”
and really... if you look at Ya’Akov 4:11 - you can get that out of the English right there....
but let’s look at the Torah about this:
Mishlei /Proverbs 31:9 cjb p 991
“Speak up, judge righteous, defend the cause of the poor and needy.”
Yechezk’el /Ezekiel 44:23-24 cjb p 701
“ They are to teach my people the difference between the holy and the common and enable them to distinguish between clean and unclean.  24 They are to be judges in controversies, and they are to render decisions in keeping with my rulings./  At all my designated festivals they are to keep my laws and regulations, and they are to keep my shabbats holy.”
Read...  Mattityahu 7:1-5 cjb p 1231
Now doesn’t this look like you might just get the answer - “don’t judge” in this?  yes it does... but let’s dig deeper...
Mattityahu 7:1-5 in the Aramaic English NT
“ You should not judge that you be not judged. 2  For by the judgement that you judge, you will be judged.  And by the measure that you measure, it will be measured to you. 3 And why do you see the twig that is in the eye of your brother, and you not observe the beam that is in your eye?  4 Or how do you say to your brother, Allow me to remove the twig from your eye, and behold a bean is in your eye?  5  Hypocrite!  First remove the beam from your eye, and then decide for yourself to remove the twig from the eye of your brother.”
The commentary says...
“‘You should not judge by your own judgment, but by YHWH’s righteous judgement.  D’varim /Deuteronomy 1:17; Mizmor /Psalms 37:30-31;  Yahshua teaches that justice (judgment)  is one of the more important matters of Torah, Mattityahu 23:23, but if you judge by your own standards then YHWH will use your own standards to judge you.”
“and also
Sh’mot /Exodus 21:24
Vayikra /Leviticus 24:20
D’varim /Deuteronomy 19:21”
~
So let’s look at these:
D’varim 1:17 cjb p 196
“You are not to show favoritism when judging, but give equal attention to the small and to the great.  No matter how a person presents himself, don’t be afraid of him because the decision is YHWH’s.”
Mizmor 37:30-31 cjb p 826
“The mouth of the righteous articulates wisdom, his tongue speaks justice. 31 The Torah of his God is in his heart; his footsteps do not falter.”
Mattityahu 23:23 cjb p 1253 (weightier matters)
Sh’mot /Exodus 21:24 cjb p 84 (eye for eye)
This is not about hacking out someone’s eye if they injure another’s... This is about paying someone what that injured party needs if we injured them.
Vayikra /Leviticus 24:20 cjb p138  ( is also - eye for eye)
~
Luke 6:37 cjb p 1298
“Don’t judge, and you won’t be judged.  Don’t condemn, and you won’t be condemned.”  Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
Acts 4:19 cjb p 1365
“But Kefa and Yochanan answered, ‘You must judge whether it is right in the sight of YHWH to listen to you rather than YHWH.”
Romans 14: 10-13 cjb p 1481
What if “judging” is about condemning...
but if we judge according to Torah...  we are deciding if an activity or way of thinking lines up with the Word or not.... Not about condeming someone...
I Corinthians 10:15-33 cjb p 1432
I Corinthians 11:13 cjb p 1433
I Corinthians 14: 29 cjb p 1436
2 Corinthians 5:14 cjb p 1444 “convinced” = “Judge”
Colossians 2: 16 cjb p 1472 - the “anyone” in this verse is Torahless, pagan man.
Mattityahu 25: 1-30 cjb p 1256
Remember how we talked about mixed... and how daylight gradually, little by little turns from light to dark....
and this is about little by little we get into sin.
But night turns little by little to day....  gradually we are learning to keep Torah - to come into the light.
Mizmor 119: 105 cjb p 916
“You word is a lamp for my foot and light on my path.”
Mishlei 4:18  cjb p 946
“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn shining ever brighter until full daylight.”
Remember the day is the light that keeps darkness/ evil at bay.... if we didn’t need to see others... we wouldn’t have needed eyes....
So...  “do not judge” is really about not condemning someone....
BUT we are called to base everything on Torah...
Yochanan 8:30-32 cjb p 1341 (set you free)
If we can’t judge for ourselves if something lines up with Torah - how can we ever be free?
AMEIN!!
