Torah parashah - T’rumah - contributions
Sh’mot /Exodus 25:1-27:18 cjb p 88
YHWH gives Moshe instructions on taking up a collection from “anyone who wholeheartedly wants to give”....
and goes on to instruct Moshe on how and what to build for the tabernacle.
He starts with the ark, and then goes to the table, and then the Menorah - the furnishing for the Kadosh of Kadoshiym. ... and then He goes on to how to build the tabernacle.
The word “T’rumah” is a special type of offering that can be given for any work of YHWH and it means - the best part. It doesn’t say how much this should be - just that they who give should give wholeheartedly.
There is no English word that explains this... but it is often translated as “heave offering”.... with the image being - gifts lifted up on to or heaved on the altar.
These are gifts that brought closeness with YHWH. Sacrifice of the first born and gifts of first fruits are considered in the Word as T’rumah. General tithes were often called T’rumah as well.
The T’rumah is a type and picture of Messiah Yahushua... who willingly gave his life as an offering for all mankind.
We can give T’rumah to YHWH ... by not being conformed to this world but being transformed by the renewing of our minds -Rom 12:1-2
and
Yechezk’el /Ezekiel 44:5 cjb p 700.... “YHWH said to me, ‘Human being, pay attention; see with your eyes and hear with your ears everything I tell you about all the regulations of YHWH’s house’...”
In this Torah portion YHWH gave instructions on how to build the furnishings of the tabernacle and the tabernacle itself.... and the people did it. They didn’t just hear and say - “oh that’s nice.. i know it so i believe it”... They DID it. = Sh’ma!

This week YHWH opened my eyes even more than before... to the famine in the land... the famine that His Word says in
Amos 8:11 cjb p 740
“The time is coming says YHWH Elohiym, when i will send famine over the land, not a famine of bread or a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of YHWH.”
I see even more clearly that people - people who are sincere about what they believe... do not know - and are not able to discern because they don’t know Torah well enough....
What is of the tree of Life and what is of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Remember, things that are good are not necessarily of YHWH.... and not only does the world not know this, but christianity - even the shepherds, do NOT know this!
I see more clearly that they also do not understand Torah - and are not able to understand the end of the book - because they don’t understand the first part....
My heart grieves...
The pastor i was talking to even quoted “Proverbs 29:18 - as without wisdom my people perish.”
The Complete Jewish says...
Mishlei 29:18 cjb p 988...
“Without a prophetic vision, the people throw off all restraint; but he who keeps Torah is happy.”
Meaning... the “wisdom” that one needs is TORAH.... and if you don’t understand the beginning - you can’t understand the end.
And there i was with this person.... who wanted to know about the end of days...
Who even had the discernment to say...
“I listen to what the men are teaching the youth and they say - hurry and accept Jesus so you can be raptured and not have to be here for the tribulation.” and this pastor went on to say... “It just doesn’t seem like that is all we should be teaching.”... but had no idea what was missing....
Where does one start with this??
The Moedim of YHWH.... ?
the fact that the Torah does not say that YHWH’s people will be raptured out and not be here for tribulation....?...
And this person had no idea of the new age in the community or christianity itself....
and this person has more discernment than most pastors!!
So we can go back to the last couple weeks’ teachings and remember what Rav Shaul said... in
Ma’sey hash - sh’liyechiym / Acts 20:29 cjb p 1389
“I know that after i leave, savage wolves will come in among you; and they won’t spare the flock. 30 Even from among your own number, men will arise and teach perversions of the truth in order to drag you away with the talmidim after themselves.”
Or what Mashiach said in ...
Mattityahu 7:15 cjb p 1231
“Beware of the false prophets! They come to you wearing sheep’s clothing but underneath they are hungry wolves!”
Or back up to the Neviym /prophets...
Yechezk’el /Ezekiel 22:26-27 cjb p 667
“Her cohanim have done violence to my Torah, profaned my holy things, made no difference between the holy and the common, not distinguished between unclean and clean, hidden their eyes from my shabbats, and profaned me among themselves. 27 Her leaders in it are like wolves tearing up the prey to shed blood and destroy people, in order to benefit unjustly.”
**
YHWH put it so deeply on my heart that what we are doing here at HLM is becoming more and more about HIS Torah, HIS Emet/Truth... and moving us further and further away from the lies of hasatan... and HE is teaching us to return/ to Teshuvah back to the aretz chaiym (tree of life) and to no longer eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Praise YHWH!!
But how my heart is grieved for so many so deceived.
This is precisely why we must STUDY Torah - the whole book... !
** ** ** ** ** **
Today we are going to start with the third word of B’re’shiyt --Elohiym, based on much study and teaching by Brad Scott.
But first - let’s review just a little bit...
We have a couple pictures that we learned go with B’re’shiyt...
The Menorah - which is a visual for the first sentence - 7 words of the Torah. With Yahushua / the ET (Aleph Tov) as the servant candle in the middle.
On one side we have - B’re’shiyt bara Elohiym (YHWH)
On the other side we have - hashamayim v’et ha’aretz (creation)
and the connection between YHWH and creation is - the servant candle, the “v’et” the Aleph Tov!
We also have the introduction of the picture of the house on a piece of land with a family.... and this picture sums up the whole Torah.
Remember the very first letter of Torah is a BET and that means house... and it is YHWH’s house we are talking about... and all of Torah comes out of that first letter -the BET. ...
and the purpose of Mashiach....
Mattityahu 13:1 cjb p 1239
“That same day, Y’shua went out of the house and sat down by the lake , but such a large crowd gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat there while the crowd stood on the shore...”
“out of the house” = outside the court of the Tabernacle = “the HOUSE”
This teaching is foundational on the principal of the seed... and that is that YHWH’s family is born from His seed - the Torah/ Word - and not from man’s seed / blood and sperm.
The phrase - “to go out of the house” in Hebrew thinking is to leave from the East and go to the West.
The word that has been translated as “shore” is “yam” in Hebrew and it is the same word as “west”... and who is represented by the west - those “out of the house” of YHWH - His beit haMichdash.
- Those out of the House of YHWH are those out of covenant or, said more clearly --- those not keeping Torah.
- “....sat down by the lake” - “lake” = the Hebrew meaning here is - a great multitude = the Northern Kingdom of Isra’el.
So... what we have: ...That same day, Y’shua went out of YHWH’s house - the beit hamichdash (the Temple of YHWH), and went to the West - into the Kingdom of Isra’el - the Northern Kingdom ... with the purpose of bringing them - the people of the Northern Kingdom - those out of covenant - also known as Isra’el ----back to the house..
....actually doing what He came to do.!!!..
Mattityahu 15:24 cjb p 1243
“He said, ‘I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Isra’el.’”
We consistently see that the mission of Yahushau haMashiach...
...IS........
...“To go to His people, - Isra’el - and take by the hand, and lead them back to the House - the beit hamichdash - b/c they keep Torah there -that is where Torah comes from ... and there... they are a family.”
= a house on a piece of land and a family.
= Isra’el.

** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** **
We are on page 7 of Brad Scott’s study guide.
Elohiym
... is a noun referring to YHWH that in this first sentence follows a verb.
If you go back to page three of the study guide, you can read the first sentence...
B’re’shiyt bara Elohiym ET hashamayim v’et ha’aretz.
In the beginning created Elohiym the heaven and the earth.
Elohiym
= aleph -lamed - hey - yod mem
Elohiym... has im or iym on end... and we know that a lot of the time in Hebrew this means the word is plural. ...
Elohiym comes from the root - EL = an aleph and a lamed.
Elohiym is translated as- god, and deity, and rulers.
El = “strong leader” in pictograph (which is on the top of page 7 in your study guide.)
The ram would have been one of the most powerful things people would have seen then...
El is translated into “mighty one”...
but with the suffix “hiym” - we know that “iym” means PLURAL...
So we have to look at the context of the word...
Elohiym - is in the plural... BUT its verb - BARA- is in the singular.
In Hebrew - iym on the end of a word can make the word mean several things...
- it often means plural... many
- but in Hebrew it also is a way of saying - ‘one that is really really big or significant.’
In B’re’shiyt 1:1 B’re’shiyt bara Elohiym... the verb of that sentence we said is...BARA...
... and BARA - is in the qal stem perfect - and that means it is singular, masculine and complete....
...so the one who did the BARA - “ing” - is ONE and He is masculine and what He did was a completed work.
If we look at B’re’shiyt 22:8 cjb p 21
“Avraham replied, “Elohiym will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering my son: and they both went on together.”
In this verse - Elohiym is plural and the “providing” is singular... identifying the ONE Elohiym of Avraham, Yitz’chak and Ya’akov.
Scott says....There are different ways this verse gets translated...
“Some teach that Yahushua /Y’shua - is YHWH in the flesh,
and they see this as Avraham saying that YHWH will provide himself as the offering”...
....and Brad talks about this... saying that he believes that YHWH actually backs this idea =
- that YHWH will provide Himself as the offering...
.. b/c what happens?
A RAM is provided.
Now let me remind you that....
.... when YHWH made covenant with Avraham (B’re’shiyt 15 cjb p 14)...
He made Avraham go to sleep... and ONLY YHWH walked between the animal halves....
This is how covenant was made - both parties making covenant ... walked between the halves...
=saying / meaning - “If i break this covenant - let it be done to me as was done to these animals...”
Only “man,” or in this case Avraham, did NOT walk between the halves...
only -- YHWH did...
So right there HE was saying - “I will die if I don’t keep this covenant
and I will die if you don’t keep this covenant.”
so back to this story of the potential sacrifice of Yitz’chak /Isaac - YHWH provided a RAM.
Brad Scott says...
Isn’t this interesting that it is a ram... it could have been any clean animal... but it was a RAM.
The Hebrew word for RAM is “ayeal” and that is a cognate or family word for Elohiym in Hebrew.
The word “ayeal” describes the strength of the creator!
Of all the things that he could have provided... YHWH provided something that represents the strength of YHWH Himself.
Do you see how he was restating the covenant he made with Avraham in the first place - there on the mountain... with Yitz’Chak/ Isaac - there on the same place that was later to become Jerusalem... and the very same place where Yahushua /Y’shua was sacrificed on the stake...??? !!!
** ** **
There are other elohiyms in the Word... they are false gods - and we can see that in the text...
Yirmeyahu /Jeremiah 10:10-12 cjb p 566
“But YHWH, Elohiym is the true elohiym, the living Elohiym, the everlasting king. At his anger, the earth trembles; and nations cannot endure his fury. 11 This is what you must say to them; ‘The elohiym that did not make heaven and earth will perish from earth and from under heaven.”
{This is why YHWH says His name is important! }
YHWH is saying ... The ONE that created is the ONLY Elohiym/God.
So the word Elohiym must be understood in its context.
All we know about the TRUE Elohiym/ God unfolds in Scripture...
At this point in B’re’shiyt 1 we don’t yet have the the revelation of the name - YHWH.
The term/name YHWH is about relationship... and we don’t see that until B’re’shiyt 2.
Brad says...
the word or title --“ELOHIYM” describes the Creator as He relates to His creation ...
It all begins with HIM because HE is the beginning...
It all relates to His power and creative activity....
Elohiym is His nature as it relates to creation...
Only when man is fully formed do we have YHWH as a distinction from Elohiym... (we’ll get to that later).
“The universe does not begin with matter, nor the heavenlies, ... but it begins with ELOHIYM .. . because HE is the beginning; “the B’re’shiyt”...
-remember we said that...
B’RE’SHIYT can be what starts something in motion - the beginning of the motion - or WHO starts something into motion....
Please note on the bottom of page 7 ...
“Only when creation is finished and man if fully formed do we have “LORD” as a distinction.”
Why is LORD in capitol letters?
Because the people that translated - took out the name of YHWH over 7,000 times and put in other things.
LORD is always one of the places that used to say YHWH.
*
So we know that ELOHIYM in B’re’shiyt 1:1 means THEE ONE TRUE AND LIVING ELOHIYM.... who is so big we put IYM on the end to say how big HE is....
... and since BARA is qal stem perfect... it means that who ever did the BARA-ing... was ONE / singular, was masculine and it was a completed work.
So ELOHIYM - the ONE who did that - is saying ... “THEE ONE really really big EL/ god.”
amein.
**
Let’s look at the fourth word of Torah...
B’re’shiyt bara Elohiym ‘ET....
‘ET .....
We are on the top of page 8 in the study guide.
The ‘et - as it is pronounced is - in Hebrew - the letters...
ALEPH and TOV.
Isn’t that odd - not even a “word” per say... just two letters there?!!....
It isn’t even translated into English!
Scott says ... “When we see aleph and tov standing all by itself - this is and should be a special interest to us.”
Most commentaries on Tanakh do not address this....
Hebrew scholars agree it is a SOD... something with much deeper meaning...
Yesha’Yahu /Isaiah 41:4 cjb p 498
“Whose work is this? Who has brought it about? He who called the generations from the beginning, I YHWH am the Aleph /first and I am the same with those who are the Tov/last.”
Aleph and Tov - what is this?
Gillianyah / Revelation 1:8 cjb p 1533
The Mashiach/ Messiah is speaking...
“I am the A and the Z, says YHWH, Elohiym of heaven’s armies, the One who is, who was and who is coming.”
Gillianyah / Revelation 22:13 cjb p 1555
again the Mashiach is speaking...
“I am the A and the Z, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
In Greek translations of the original Hebrew it reads... “I am the alpha and the omega...”
But in the Hebrew it would be ...
“I am the Aleph and the Tov, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
Who is the Aleph and the Tov?
-The Mashiach / Messiah... who is YHWH.
So right there in B’re’shiyt - it tells us - in what manifestation YHWH created... BARA’ed...
= the Mashiach!
Brad says...
“B/c the Word of YHWH is created by the mother tongue - the 22 Hebrew letters ...
...and those 22 letters are represented by the Aleph and the Tov... and that represents the whole aleph bet which form words in Hebrew...
....so this refers to all of the aleph bet!”
So here with are in B’re’shiyt 1... right in the middle of this verse/ this sentence - we have an identification that YHWH has placed in the text.... that separates and unites... YHWH and His creation...
just like we already explained - the picture is the Menorah!
So YHWH has given us a sign from the very beginning and HE uses that sign at least 80 times... the Aleph and the Tov standing alone in Torah... Identifying who YHWH is.
Brad gives a few of the references on P 8 in your study guide.
He is the Beginning and the End.
As YHWH took on flesh and dwelt among us... we see according to the Word that HE is also the creator!
The Aleph and the Tov - follows directly after ELOHIYM... and represents ELOHIYM.
So now... Yochanan 1:1 should mean something more than just a statement...
Yochanan /John 1:1 cjb p 1329
cjb = “In the beginning was the Word and the Word with with God and the Word was God.”
Better translated Yochanan 1:1 would read:
“B’re’shiyt was the Living Torah and the ET (Aleph Tov) was with YHWH and the ET (Aleph Tov) was YHWH.”
and what does this reference?? - right back to B’re’shiyt 1:1 !!!
the Aleph Tov is YHWH
BUT B’re’shiyt makes a differentiation between the “jepedo” - making people ...to letting us know that the ONE Elohiym brought things from the unseen and made them seen... through His Word and His Word IS Him.
Although the Aleph Tov describes YHWH
the Torah says that there is an identification that Messiah is going to give to the tribe of Judah when walking on the earth...
==the oat/sign - having to do with his crucifiction / the sign...
Brad says...
....it is not a coincidence that we take the two letters that speak all throughout the tanakh... that right in the middle of the Aleph and the Tov - is the Hebrew letter for the nail - the vav...
the Messiah says this shall be a sign... the Aleph Tov forming the basis of the word, and the vav - the hebrew letter for the nail
aleph - vav- tav = sign/oat...
Hebrew scholars believe this is a sod teaching...
most Hebrew teachings /Jewish teachings don’t address this.... of what the Aleph Tov could possibly mean..
We already looked at
Yesha’Yahu /Isaiah 41:4 cjb p 498
“Whose work is this? Who has brought it about? He who called the generations from the beginning, I YHWH am the Aleph /first and I am the same with those who are the Tov/last.”
“Who has brought it about” - is an identifier...
“I YHWH the first and with the last - the Aleph and the Tov... that is who i am.”
Yahushua/ Y’shua says this and confirms this when Pharisees confront him and He says...
“Before Abraham I am”
and also in Revelation ... the Aleph Tov
the Aleph and the Tov... full understanding of the word - points to the Creator and who He is and how He created -
-- through the 22 letters He created the seen and unseen matter!
*
Some highlights of some Aleph Tov scriptures
Z’kharyah /Zechariah 12:10 cjb p 782
“and i will pour out on the house of David and on those living in Yerushalayim a spirit of grace and prayer and they will look to Me - ALEPH TOV - whom they pierced.”
Yesha’Yahu /Isaiah 53:6 cjb p 521
“We all like sheep, went astray; we turned each one, to his own way; and yet YHWH laid on him - Aleph Tov- the guilt of all of us.”
-- Once again, this is identifying - who is doing these things...
The only Mashiach is the only Aleph Tov.
There is only ONE
YHWH is constantly reaching out to man to describe the nature of the Mashiach.
Sh’mot 25:8-9 cjb p 88 - from today’s Torah Parashah
“They are to make me a sanctuary, so that I may live among them. 9 You are to make it according to everything i show you - the design of the tabernacle and the design of its furnishings. This is how you are to make it.”
Where the CJB says.. “according to everything”... it has been translated “after the pattern”
this word “pattern” is “tavnits” in Hebrew... and it is fro the root
bain/ben - to build or son) = the Aleph Tov....
= the pattern already drawn by YHWH of His benah/ plan for restoration... the Aleph and Tov - Mashiach ...
... and ..the tabernacle is the representation of that pattern..
Moshe saw this pattern... So Moshe saw the Messiah!
This is why it was imperative that YHWH said Moshe had to build the tabernacle exactly as he was shown... b/c the tabernacle and its furnishings is an expression of Mashiach...
and if anyone changes it.. then you added to or subtracted from His Word... (that would be a very bad things according to the Word!)
*
The Ark of Covenant in Sh’mot /Ex 25:22 cjb p 88
“There I will meet with you. I will speak with you from above the ark-cover, from between the two k’ruvim which are on the ark for the testimony Aleph Tov about all the orders I am giving you for the people of Isra’el.
-The Aleph Tov - the testimony is directly related to the Mashiach Himself.
*
In the story of Yoseph revealing himself to his 11 brothers
the Aleph Tov is in that story - B’re’shiyt 37-50
The standing alone Aleph Tov appears in that story - standing alone exactly 12 times - each time representing a tribe of Isra’el.
**
So in summary we can say that
ELOHIYM in B’re’shiyt 1:1 means that THEE one really amazing bigger than all the rest - GOD - Bara’ed ... and because it is with the word BARA - it means that this ELOHIYM is masculine, is ONE and did a completed work right there in the first sentence.
ET - the Aleph Tov - is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End... Yahushua haMashiach ... YHWH come in the flesh... clarifying what manifestation of YHWH did the BARA-ing.
**
May we continue to study Torah - “to be approved” and to know the Emet so well that we can always discern what is of YHWH and what is not.
AMEIN.
