Torah Parashah # 27 Tazria - She conceives
Vayikra /Leviticus 12:1- 13:59 cjb p 121
B’re’shiyt # 13 - m’rachephet ....
***
Let’s start with the Torah Parashah...
turn to...
Vayikra 12:1... cjb p 121
First, let me say that it is possible that Tazria is the grossest and most disgusting Parashah in all of Torah!
It is full of rashes, and boils and scaly skin and sores with sprouting hairs that change color in wounds….
It is hard to know what to make of it.
And yet - YHWH put it in there... and every year we go over it...
It starts with
Purification after child birth
And then moves into skin problems…
But is there more to this parashah ??
In those days – the dermatologists were the priests…. and so they were the persons one would go to if there were having problems with their spiritual self and with the physical self!
Okay - so you might get a skin sore.... but clothing probably covers it up.... you could just go on and not say anything...
But ...
This portion suggests that we examine ourselves on a regular basis to see if there are things that need healing and cleaning up!
And even before we get to the whole idea of skin diseases,
this portion talks about women being unclean with periods and after giving birth...
and we could go on in Torah and realize that there is a whole lot of unclean going on in living the life of a human being...
So we read these things and - wow - we do not understand.
But the think i know is that YHWH is purity and holiness and HE is CLEAN and HOLY.... and then there are humans.... trying to live but when we give birth we are unclean... when we touch blood we are unclean, when we touch a dead body we are unclean.... when we LIVE - it just happens that we get unclean....
But Torah doesn’t say that being unclean is sin... it just is
So then i find it interesting... YHWH points out how we are unclean.... and then let’s read:
2Corinthians 13:5 cjb p 1451
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are living the life of trust. Test yourselves. Don’t you realize that Y’shua the Messiah is in you?... unless you fail to pass the test.”
“Examine yourselves.” Don’t keep it covered up... deal with your problems!!
Read Vayikra (Lev) 13:9- 17 cjb p 122
Tzara’at = not “leprosy
Tzara’at = red or white spot on skin…
The priest diagnosed… if was tzara’at had to live outside community… priest checked every seven days…
And when it healed – declared the person clean and they could come back into community.
People thought this was leprosy… but …
A group of scholars grouped skin diseases together and called them leprasy …
and in the 9th century a scholar/priest read it as “leprosy”… and since then people all over the world thought the Bible was talking about leprosy…
One of the dead - giveaways that the Torah is not just talking about a skin disease is that tzara’at isn’t just a skin disease …..is that …. It can be in fabric or on walls of houses…
It is dark green or dark red mold or fungus that went deep into the fibers of fabric or the stones of the house…
I think the point is... sin doesn’t just effect me - it effects my entire world around me!!
2Corinthians 13:5 cjb p 1451
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are living the life of trust. Test yourselves. Don’t you realize that Y’shua the Messiah is in you?... unless you fail to pass the test.”
So life makes us unclean.... and then we get cleaned up again....
and sin causes problems in every facet of my life.....contaminating and poisoning....
I am thinking it is time to stop covering things up and not being real.... and instead.... facing sins in my life and dealing with them!!
YHWH’s desire is that we be set free and healed! Amein!!
It’s an invitation! Pesach (Passover) is coming up in a few weeks… and we clean our homes to get the cham’etz out of them… let’s clean our selves up to get the sin and the profane out of us and to get CLEAN instead of unclean. !
** ** ** ** **
Okay let’s switch gears a bit... and go to our B’re’shiyt study! :)
Let’s go to page 15 in our study guide...
Last Shabbat we started
B’re’shiyt 1:2 b
“V’rucha Elohiym m’rachephet ‘al-p’eney ham-mayim.”
“And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
We talked about V’RUCHA
which is spirit, or wind or open space
Today we are going to start with
m’rachephet
“marakayfet”
It is translated as “moved”
It means = “to move, to shake, to hover over”
It is an action term
M’rachephet’s root is : resh, chet, peh
= “rachaph”
Yirmeyahu /Jeremiah 23:9 cjb p 587
“Concerning the prophets: My heart within me is broken, all my bones are shaking; i am like a drunk, like a man overcome by wine, because of YHWH, because of his holy Words.”
The word “shaking” = “rachaph”
Thee are three possibilities that this shaking is going on...
1. The shaking is of themselves - they are doing it on purpose
2. It is the anti messiah
3. They are genuinely being moved by YHWH.
This is why in Acts 2:13 when people think they are drunk and it is the Ruach HaKodesh!
Brad Scott makes an interesting side note here ... “If they were only drinking grape juice - why would you think they are drunk?”
hmm...
D’varim /Deuteronomy 32:10 cjb p 235
He found his people in desert country, in a howling, wasted, wilderness. He protected him and cared for him, guarded him like the pupil of his eye, like and eagle that stirs up her nest, hovers over her young, spreads out her wings, take them and carries them as she flies.”
that word “hovers” here is “flutters” in other versions.
It is “rachaph”
So, in B’reshiyt 1:2 is the word “‘rachephet”
and 2 other times ... in Torah (whole Bible)
Yirmeyahu 23:9
and
D’varim 32:10
When we see this - we see the pattern that YHWH always moves first... he reaches out first...
“For YHWH so loved the world”
“we love him because he first loved us”
Here in B’re’shiyt 1:2 - he is going to move over the face of the waters first.
YHWH is going to move on your life first.
He is going to move first - so you can learn the truth.
He may move someone to come and teach it to you ... or put you in a congregation... You will see a manifestation - a move of YHWH
... This is the pattern of the beginning - because the cause must precede its effect.
The word in Greek only occurs a very few times.
it is “Saleuo”
Acts 4:31 “shaken” = rachaph
Hebrews 12:26 cjb p 1508
It says that He moved over the face of the waters.. go back to your notes to get the back ground of the “face of the waters” - the Presence on the waters”
He doesn’t really say the waters are created… but the waters in the earth are all encompassed in the parse haeretz
when we see earth we only think of dry land but really it is the whole mass….
the waters come with the earth.
** **
HaMayim = the waters
mem - yod- mem
Mayim
translated as WATER or waters.. only appears in one form.. - a DUAL form… used the same way Hebrew words are used in dual form = eyes, and ears and feet - things that come in pairs
because….
In Word - we have physical waters that is used to represent the fountains of living waters..
in other words - God’s presence - even tho that may baffle scholars - that is why it appears in the dual form - representing both natural and spiritual.
B’re’shiyt 6:17 mayim is used in judgement - the flood…
to destroy all flesh.
“The same waters that cleanse and purify are the same waters of judgment.”
the same is true with the Mashiach - the same Messiah if rejected can destroy you and cause you to be separated from Yah… depending on what you accept and reject.
Mayim also used in salvation
Yochanan /John 4:10-14..if you knew the gift of Yah… .. and he would have given you living water…
Water is a fascinating thing that does fascinating things..
It is one of the least understood things on earth
the greatest solvent… things dissolve in it..
more uses that we can imagine..
dominantly used in scripture was cleansing and judgment and purification and salvation
Vayikria /Lev 15:1-33 cjb p 126 - waters are for purification
Yesha’Yahu /Isaiah 12:3 cjb p 455 - salvation
Hitgalut /Rev 22:17cjb p 1555 -directly associated with life
Mizmore /Psalm 1:3 cjb p 791 --He who delights / mediates in Torah - he shall be like a tree planted by river.. water nourishing
Ephesians 5:26 cjb p 1463also
Hamayim / water is what was created in vs 1:1 - and more than likely it was covering the whole earth.. now we have more details and he does the restoring process
He moves OVER the waters and then the earth comes up OUT of the waters.
He must cleanse that which cleanses first - (the water)…. then there is a mikvah baptism and all living things come forth from the earth
this is what Yah does to you heart first - he cleanses inside your heart first - fountain of living waters
then immersed - moved to body -
B’re’shiyt 1 : 9-10
prep for earth coming out of waters.
**
Summary...
Info on B’re’shiyt 1:1 - 1:2.. in the sense that we have water first and then we have light..
BUT -
we have learned good science has learned that over a period of time we learn more physics about world…
we can take a water molecule and introduce sonar - sound into that water the molecules or near them.. and when the sonar frequencies are changed it effects the water…
~
The full light spectrum can be produced in the water molecule…
now extrapolate that out to the fact that water surrounded the whole earth.. and you and are 70-80 % water…
when we see smaller experiments we see everything of mass and matter has sound frequency everything is vibrating and if you change the sound frequency you change the mass and the matter.
we have experiments now that verify the fact that sound can effect the water and produce the full spectrum of light
so with that in mind.. genesis begins what water and not light…
and so that is why the bible begins with water and then says.. let there be light… the light comes as the Ruach hovers /vibrates over the water…. the light is produced…
just like we know from science experiments
The above is over simplification but it is basically what has happened.
***
Consider….
So basically what has happened here in the very first 2 verses of B’re’shiyt….
is that we begin with 7 Hebrew words…
which read in English as
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Then there is a response of 7 Hebrew words… in B’re’shiyt 1:2 a = a completed act in the perfect tense… hasatan falling and turning the world into empty and void / astonishingly confused
and then Yah responds with 5 Hebrew words of redemption
In B’re’shiyt 1:2 b
5 = the number of redemption and grace in the Word -
and finishes with the waters…
The regenerative Spirit has moved over the face of the waters… that which cleanses has been moved over by the Spirit
= that which cleanses must first be cleaned up…. so the Ruach / Spirit moves over it….
7 is the number of completion.
YHWH made the creation - and it was a COMPLETED ACT - FINISHED.
and hasatan messed it up and he thought it was a completed act…
but then YHWH comes and brings redemption!!
This is the pattern for what He does in our lives!!
This is the pattern for what He does in Isra’el!!
Right here in the first 2 sentences of the Torah - YHWH lays out the pattern for how HE works.
He creates… satan or ourselves mess it up…
and YHWH comes and offers redemption!!!
amazing.
He gives us the plan of ALL the Torah (the Old Testament and the New Testament) right there in the first two verses!!!
It is an invitation ….
Will you consider YHWH’s plan for your life… and spend time with Him and be cleaned up by Him??
I want to go into this Moed/ Feast - cleaner then i have ever been - because i hear Him better and I see better…
This is an invitation - to get clean - to move into more freedom…
AMEIN
