We should also note that this weekend in many christian churches ... it is “Evolution Sunday”.
Some churches are doing “Creation Sunday” instead.

It’s just amazing the mess out there and the mess that religion embraces.

Torah Parashah teaching video by Rabbi Fohrman at Aleph Beta...

**
So we get to this Torah Portion... right after Moshe has been given the 10 commandments...

all of a sudden there is a bunch of rules...

Ever wonder why?

Well it occurs to me that we need to consider who YHWH is talking to...
Isra’elites...  people who have been living as slaves under a very harsh and inhumane pharaoh...

So they have no idea what “healthy” is.

Just like us when we react out of our hurt and lies that we believe...
until we learn truth and health...

*
---  Hand out  -----

So they’ve just gotten the 10 Commandments -
also known as
The 10 Living Words

Then Torah goes on (in our Parashah) to give a series of laws for the people of Isra’el.

This Parashah contains 53 mitzvoth/commandments = 23 imperative commandments and 30 prohibitions.

These laws include:

-indentured servant
-penalties for murder, kidnapping, assault, and theft
-civil laws pertaining to redress of damages, the granting of loans,
- the responsibilities of the “Four Guardians”
-   the rules governing the conduct of justice by courts of law
-   laws warning against mistreatment of foreigners
-   the observance of the moeds/ set apart feasts
-   the agricultural gifts that are to be brought to the Temple
-   the prohibition against cooking a baby goat in its mother’s milk
-   the mitzvah of prayer

YHWH promises to bring the people of Isra’el into the Promised Land,

and he warns them against taking on the pagan ways of the land’s current inhabitants.

The people of Israel proclaim  in
Sh’mot 24:3
“All the words that YHWH has said, we will do.”

Leaving Aharon and Hur in charge of the camp, Moshe goes up Mt Senai and stays there for 40 days and 40 nights to receive the BOOK OF THE LAW.

****
Let me also make a note about a foot note in the Bibles that we use.. RSTNE...
page 64 the foot note for
Sh’mot 21:10 “If he will take himself another wife,”

The foot note says - “Scriptural plural marriage declared eternally kosher in Torah -

HLM disagrees with this footnote.  Remember these footnotes are a man’s opinion - whom we don’t happen to agree with in this one.

“IF he will take himself another wife” - is NOT saying it is okay to do or okay to do forever.

So i crossed out that foot note.

******
I find it very interesting....

Sh’mot 23:31-32 p 66
“And I will set your borders from the Sea of Reeds even to the Sea of the Plishtim, and from the desert to the river for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and you shall drive them out from before you.  32 You shall make no brit with them, or with their elohim.”

-- the foot note says...  “All peace accords with others on the land are forbidden.”
hmmm...

************

It’s  also important to note ...

That according to the Melchizedek teaching we’ve been slowly learning...

Sh’mot 24:12 p 66
is the start of the Book of the Law

Sh’mot 24:12 p 66
“And YHWH said to Moshe, Come up to Me into the mount, and be there: and I will give you tablets of stone and a Torah and mitzvoth that I have written; that you may teach them.”

Now let’s note that Dr Perry would say that in English that word Torah should be LAW... but in Hebrew it is Torah.

Also important to understand is

Sh’mot 24:6-8 p 66

Blood seals the Covenant of Promise.

It is sealed - so it can’t be added to.

So what happens following... what is given after is a different covenant...
 ==The Covenant of Law.

The 36th B’re’shiyt teaching from Bradley Scott’s work

B’re’shiyt 1:11

Starts on page 37 in study guide

B’re’shiyt 1:11
“vay-yo’mer Elohiym tad’she‘   ha’arets deshe’ ‘esav maz’riy’a zera’  ‘etz p’riy ‘oseh p’riy l’miyno  ‘asher zar’  o-vo  ‘al-ha’aretz vay’hiy ken.”

“And said, Elohiym, Let bring forth the earth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the tree fruit yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: So and it was.”

“And YHWH said, Let the earth bring forth grass (vegetation), the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth; and it was so.”

RSTNE = “And Elohiym said, Let the earth bring out grass, the herb yielding zera and the fruit eytz yielding fruit after its kind, whose zera is in itself, upon the earth; and it was so.”

We talked last Shabbat about
Tad’she = let bring forth
and we also talked about the “saying it twice” = YHWH saying this is really important.

“let the grass grass”
“let the seed seed”

and talked about a few more words

Then we got to :

MAZ’RIY’A  ZERA

MAZ’RIY’A  = Yielding

ZERA = seed

-The nature of a seed when it is in something - is that it yields.

The king James translators have translated this as “yielding seed”...

What it really should be is  = “SEEDING SEED”.

Zera = SEED, seeding, to sow

          vav -resh-ayin

This is in agrarian terms...

YHWH commands the earth  - the Zera /Seed - to bring forth more grass and herbs, trees, and other vegetation ... in which contain the seed to produce more grass and herbs and trees and other vegetation.

The creation, which is plant life, becomes the pattern for the use of seed throughout Scripture.

When we see SEED elsewhere in the Scriptures

B’re’shiyt 3:15  p 10
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your zera and her Zera; He shall crush your head, and you shall bruise His heel”

Mattityahu 13:18-33  p 688 - “the parable of the sower”

Galutyah /Galatians 3:16 p 876
“Now to Avraham and his zera were the promises made. He said not, And to your seeds, as in many; but as of One, And to your Zera, which is Moshiach.”

 - This is talking about Avraham’s seed - not as many seeds but  as ONE seed.

B’re’shiyt 3:15 - two seeds  - Man is either one of those 2 seeds..

Man only has ONE seed in them - gentile and Jew...

If you do not have chayim in you... then you have the seed of the knowledge of good and evil in you..

The principal is set forth here of the use of the word ZERA / SEED...not mixing or sowing diverse seed...

**
Now, this is very interesting with what we know about GMO seed today.
YHWH clearly expects what HE puts in seed to be what comes forth and  we know from later in Torah that mixing seed is NOT okay!

***
There are many uses of SEED and it will also be used to reference sperm of man.

In B’re’shiyt 3:15 we have two seeds... the seed of man and the seed of the serpent

In the garden of eden there are two seeds that produced 2 trees....

*
We know that trees start out with seeds...
and YHWH starts the principal of L’MIYNO which we will get to - the seed after it’s own kind...

B’re’shyit 4:25 p11
“And Ahdahm knew his wife again; and she bore a son, and called his name Sheth; For Elohim, she said has appointed me another zera instead of Hevel, whom Qayin killed.”

Why is the term “appointed another seed” used here?
This is the beginning of the line of faith....Hevel was killed by Quain and now the seed of faith - is Seth... in the image of Adam.. (not the image of YHWH).

-So technically, believers have 2 seeds in them...

While non believers only have one seed... they only have the seed of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil so they only can make decisions based upon what is right in their own eyes... what is “good” in that tree.

Brad says - “believers have the seed of the Tree of Chayim in them”...

BUT - WE know that Christianity lives in the Tree of Tov and Ra!!!
“Believers” - might be the key word...

Brad goes on to say
“This is the battle that takes place within the believer - who still has his old nature...

 Gal 5
the spirit is constantly battling against the flesh / the seed of adamic nature... that is what the battle is all about ...

...What seed within me ???

What do i bow to??

B’re’shity 12:7 p 16
“And  YHWH appeared to Avram, and said, To your zera will I give this land; and there he built an altar to YHWH who appeared to him.”

There’s the physical seed...going down through Avraham... through YIsra’el.

We know that there is a spiritual seed - the seed of the woman that flows through Avraham as well - to believers...

Galatians 3 tells us that we are of the Seed of Avraham through faith and through preaching/teaching and receiving of God’s word.

Let’s look at... this is important....
 Luke 8:11  p 734
“Now the parable is this: The zera is the word of YHWH.”

This is the parable of the sower
And it says right here that the SEED is the WORD of YHWH.

That is the true seed - the seed that Yah is trying to express to us through the term “Avraham’s Seed”

In
B’re’shiyt 21:12 p 22
“And Elohiym said to Avraham, Let it not be severe in your sight because of the lad, and because of your bondwoman; in all that Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice; for in Yitzchak shall your zera be called.”

Sh’mot 32:13 p 73
“...I will multiply your zera as the cochavim of the shamayim, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give to your zera, and they shall inherit it le-olam-va-ed.”

There is the continuation of the seed being planted in one generation after another.

D’varim 22:9 p 154
“You shall not sow your vineyard with different zera; lest the fruit of your zera that you have sown and the fruit of your vineyard, be DEFILED and forfeited.”

*** Important note.. in RSTNE - it says kadosh - and this is a typo - it should be DEFILED. ****

This is a principal about mixing seed...
When you mix seed --  the good will be destroyed.

**

D’varim 30:19  p 162 “I call the shamayim and the earth to record this yom against you, that i have set before you chayim and death, and blessing and cursing; therefore choose chayim, that both you and your zera may live;”

Yeshayahu 54:3 p 337
“For you shall break forth on the right hand and on the left; and Your zera shall inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.”

We still have ONE seed.

Malachi 2:15 p 495
“And did not He make them echad? And the rest of the ruachim are His also.  And why echad?  That he might seek a zera from Elohiym.  Therefore take heed to your ruach, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.”
Searching continuously for a Godly seed

Mizmor /Psalm 25:13 p 504
“His being shall dwell at ease; and his zera shall inherit the earth”

Mizmor 37:25-28 p 508
“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the tzadikim forsaken, or his zera begging lechem.  26 He is always full of rachamim, and lends; and his zera is blessed.  27 Depart from evil, and do tov; and dwell le-olam-va-ed.
28  For YHWH loves mishpat, and forsakes not His kidushim; they are preserved le-olam-va-ed but the zera of the wicked shall be cut off.”

In the Greek - Sparo = seed, where sperm comes from

Mattityahu 13:24- The parable of the Seed / Sower / ground in which the seed is sowed.

Brad says - “One of the biggest mistake modern theologians make is to identify the SEED as the Messiah.”

He goes on to say....”But Y’shua gives the interpretation of the parable, by saying that the SEED is the Word of YHWH.”

BUT what I discovered  - in Mattityahu 13:38 “The field is the olam hazeh; the tov zera are the children of the malchut;”

AND... in

Luke 8:11  p 734
“Now the parable is this: The zera is the WORD of YHWH.”

... and that is what is sown - the WORD OF YHWH.

According to
Mark 4:13 p 710
“And He said to them, Don’t you know this parable/ And how then will you know all other parables?

He says understanding the focus and nature of this parable  will enable you to understand the meaning behind all parables.

In Mattityahu 13:18-23   p  688 -   Y’shua gives us the understanding of the parable..

In 13: 20 “with simcha receives it”
= excited, celebrating -  received with joy...
....but the seed did not take root...

Brad said - “some people when they start to get a Hebrew Torah understanding they get excited....but it doesn’t take root....and pretty soon the joy goes away...
Pressure from others begins to take over and they walk away and go back to old ways... when persecution comes along ... condemning them...they say  - “Its “too hard” , “It’s  to contrary to culture i live in.”.....
          and they drop away

In 13: 22 - 3rd seed... cares of the world... becomes unfruitful...

Many times you find that the things of this culture are contrary to the Word of YHWH and pretty soon you will find....that the cares of this world become more important that keeping YHWH’s Instruction...

It’s easy to do Valentine’s Day....

 13:23
The last seed.. the good ground...  the SEED Is the Word... we know it was manifest in Y’shua... Y’shua is the rock of our salvation but rocks are still rocks.  He is the bread of  life but you still need bread to eat.  He is the fountain of living water but you still need water in order to survive
b/c he is an expression of those things, does not change those things.

Those who truly receive the seed are the ones that bare fruit - some 100 some 60 and some 30 fold

So the point of the parable of the sower and the seed ...
.....  as it relates to the maz’riy’a zera

is....  right here in the beginning B’re’shiyt 1:11....

is that YHWH has used the ZERA /SEED as an example of his ever continuing faith that comes by hearing the Word and the Word being PLANTED in you.

SO... SINCE LIKE CAN ONLY PRODUCE AFTER LIKE...

The WORD has to be in the one who speaks the Word to you... b/c it only reproduces after itself.

This is a big deal... it makes it very important - who you read, who you listen to ... whose words you will give up your time and pay attention to....

Another way to say this is - “You can’t give what you don’t have.”

If the truth is not in you - it can’t come out of you.
or anyone else for that matter!

**

Let’s look at the Parable of the Sower in Mark a bit....

Mark 4:4 p 709
“And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.”

The Word being snatched away - by SAtan -

-who doesn’t want you to have the Word -

BECAUSE --  if the WORD is planted in you and it germinates  --
--then someone else will hear it and that same Word will be planted in them!! ...

...and that will reproduce!!!...

.... and this is how the Kingdom of YHWH grows and hasatan doesn’t want that to happen.

Yochanan 8:37-39 p 763
“I know that you are Avraham’s zera; but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.  38  I speak that which i have seen with My Abba; and you do that which you have seen with your abba.   39  They answered and said to Him, Avraham is our abba.  Y'shua said to them, If you were Avraham’s children, you would do the works of Avraham.”

--Y’shua is saying to these people that the true seed of the woman is the Word of YHWH.

He’s pointing out to them... you can’t give what you don’t have and clearly you don’t have it... b/c what you are speaking is not of the WORD.

Y’shua said to them... “If you were Avraham’s children, then you would do the works of Avraham.” -

-- in other words - the seed of FAITH...

This takes us back to the “doubling of words”... the - saying it twice... b/c it is very important!

grass reproduces grass...
peaches reproduce peaches

IF you are a true believer in YHWH then you would do what YHWH says.

BECAUSE like kind produces like kind.

Can also go to
Galutyah (Galatians) 3:16,19 p 876
16 “Now to Avraham and his zera were the promises made.  He said not, And to your seeds, as in many; but as One, And to your Zera, which is Moshiach.
19 What purpose then does the Torah (book of the law) serve: it was added because of transgressions, until the Zera should come to whom the promise was made; and heavenly malchim through the hands of a Mediator ordained it.”

I Kefa 1:23 p 825
“Having been born again, not of corruptible zera but incorruptible, through the word of YHWH which lives and abides le-olam-va-ed”

Gilyahna (Revelation) 12:17 p 919
“And the dragon was angry with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her zera, that shomer the mitzvoth ofYHWH, and have the testimony of Y’shua haMoshiach.”

Brad says...

“ZERA / Seed - YHWH chooses to use this term - “ZERA/ “seed” - to talk about faith.

The same word that is used to multiply life, is the same word that is used to multiply eternal life inYHWH.”

So in order for us to understand the spiritual , we must first understand the physical.

In order for us to understand what the WORD of YHWH does....
we must understand how a seed produces... after itself...
It can only produce what is in it.

*

That is one of the reasons Y’shua bawled Nikidomon out  in Yochanan 3 p 756....
b/c  Nik was’t even understanding the physical...

and   Y’shua was using physical things to understand the spiritual.

That is why Y’shua turned to Nik and HE said... “If i told you earthly things and you do not believe, then how will you understand if i tell you spiritual things?”

YHWH gives the physical to be a picture of the spiritual.

so that is why knowledge of how reproduction / seed works... helps us understand how the spiritual works.

46 chromosomes = have to have to have life in that cell.

when you look at sperm of man and egg of woman - you will see 23 chromosomes in each.

Egg and sperm meet...

-In order to have life - two things must become ONE.

-The sperm and the egg - individually can not produce life.

Hebrew uses the word “to know” in reference of a man and a woman having sexual relations.

“Adam knew Chava” means they had sexual relations...

“to know” is not about two people making love... but it is only used (“to know”) when reproducing a child.
“To know” = Two things become one = reproduction

“To know” also refers to eternal life
Yochanan 17:3 p 772
“And this is eternal chayim, that they might know You, the only emet and Y’shua haMoshiach, whomYou have sent.”

Mattityahu 7:22-23 p 682
“ A great many will say to Me in that yom, Master, Master, have we not prophesied in your Name? and in your Name have cast out shedim? And in your name done many wonderful mitzvoth and nisim?  23 And then will I profess to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you what work Torah-less-ness.”

“knew” = yada
In other words...
“I never had an intimate relationship with you in which two things became one and now reproduce”

that is the meaning behind “know”

I don’t know about you - but i do NOT want Y’shua to say to me...

.... “I never had an intimate relationship with you in which two things became one and produced fruit through you.” !!!

Yochanan 1:12  p 754
“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of YHWH, even to them that believe on His Name:

Here - receiving is in context with being born again...
 == to receive seed.

the word of Yah is sown and if it is received... IT PRODUCES FRUIT!!!
-  LIKE KIND OF YHWH’S WORD!

....Otherwise the seed /Word of YHWH is just words on paper --
-- unless they are received ...they do nothing/ produce no fruit.

-- and if they are received - a oneness takes place and life can be reproduced!!

- The word of YHWH is the sperm and mankind is the egg.

Parable of Sower..

most modern christians see seed as the Messiah and speaking of those with and without eternal life.

This parable is speaking of 4 diff reactions to the Word of YHWH.

If that commandment that gives - is not obeyed - then it is not received and it can not reproduce

Yochanan 17:3 p 772

Yochanan17:8  p772
“For i have given to them the words which You gave Me and they have received them, and have known surely that  I came from You, and they have believed You did send Me.”

one reproducing after itself.  the law of multiplying is based on the concept of the seed.
this is important to see - theological reasons but also to rebut evolution.

ZERA / SEED in scripture totally contradicts evolutionary thinking....

When i read the Word it tells me YHWH created the animals and the grass and the trees... and like kind produces after like kind.

When i look out my window - i see the things of the WORD.

So when i consider the spiritual ... i know that Zera/ Seed is the WORD of YHWH and .... those who have that Zera will bear HIS FRUIT.

What kind of fruit are we bearing?

AMEIN.
