Torah Parashah - B’shallach (After
he had let go)
Sh’mot (Exodus) 13:17- 17:16 RSTNE
p 58
***************************
Some things to pick up...
I want to cover a couple things
from Matthew Nolan’s last few teachings.
We are going to talk about the
word...
“Serpent”
1.
Sh’mot (Exodus) 7:9
RSTNE p 53
“When
Pharaoh shall speak to you, saying, Show a miracle for yourselves: then you shall say to Aharon, Take your rod,
and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.”
That word “serpent” is (not sure
of spelling) tanien (how it sounds)
ְל ַת ִנּין
l’thnin
Tanien means = whale, dragon,
dinosaur, sea monster, serpent, snake
So if we go back to the “law of
first mention” - the first place we find this same word - Tanien is in
2.
Sh’mot 4:3
RSTNE p 51
“And
He said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a
serpent; and Moshe fled from before it.”
ְל ָנ ָחשׁ
lnchsh
Here the word is nachash = nun hey sheen (I think) anyway, it means here... telling, conjure, snake, metal, smooth,
bronze, copper
So let’s go to
3.
B’midbar
(Numbers) 21:8 RSTNE p 124
“And
YHWH said to Moshe, Make a fiery serpent and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that everyone that
is bitten, when he looks upon it, shall live.”
First of all “serpent” is not
originally in this text - it was added because it replaced a word...
ָשָׂרף
that word is sheen - resh- pey = Seraph or Seraphim
A Seraph is YHWH’s fiery attendant
at His altar!
Moshe lifts up... what??
going back to “first
mention”... of Sh’mot 4:3...BRONZE...
Now let’s go to
4.
Yeshayahu
(Isaiah) 6:2 RSTNE p 297
“Above
it stood seraphim; each one had
six wings; with two he covered his face and with two he covered his feet and
with two he flew.”
ְשׂ ָר ִפ י ם
seraphim
Which takes us back to Sh’mot 7:9
So... YHWH had the people look at
was not a snake on a stick... but a bronze seraphim... who guards the altar.

Torah Parashah - B’shallach (After
he had let go)
Sh’mot (Exodus) 13:17- 17:16
RSTNE p 58
1. People
walking out of Mitzrayim - not on the high way to avoid war, but through the
wilderness.
2. They took the bones of Yoseph
3. Pillar of cloud by day and pilar of fire by
night.
4. Camp at Pi-Hahiroth and Ba’al-Tzephon
Pi-Hahiroth
= “mouth of freedom”
Ba’al-Tzephon
= “the hidden god of the north”
- YHWH
is offering a choice - They are leaving the gods of Egypt but would they walk
in freedom, or would they get entangled in the gods of Canaan? Ba’al is Canaan’s god.
5. Sea of Reeds parting... Isra’el going through
safely and Mitzrayim all killed.
6. Miryam’s song and dance
See
footnote for Sh’mot 15:20 on p 60
“In
Yisrael women are fully equal and able to serve YHWH in their assigned roles.”
7.
Chapter 15 - 1st song of Moshe
8.
Came to the wilderness of Sin, and murmured against Moshe and Aharon.
9.
Quails came up and covered the camp
10. Manna
11. Rephidim ... Amalek.
Amalek
= son of Elphaz by concubine Timnah.
Grandson of Essau. = DOUBT.
Always
attack on Shabbat.

Let’s go back to p 59
Sh’mot 14:13-14
“And
Moshe said to the people, Fear not, stand still, and see the Y’hushua
(Salvation) of YHWH, which He will show to you. today; for the Mitzrim whom you
have seen today, you shall see them again no more le-olam-va’ed. 14
YHWH shall fight for you, and you shall stay still.”
14:14 “you shall stay still” (STAND STILL)
“stand
still” or “be silent”
Hebrew word is “charash” - to cut,
plow, engrave, be silent.
4:13
“Fear not, stand still and see the Yahsusha of YHWH which he will show to you?
Yatsab =to place, set, stand, set or station
oneself, present oneself - (Hithpael) to station
oneself, take one's stand, stand, present oneself, stand with someone.
OKay - so here they are...
Isra’el, they’ve seen the plagues and they know the miracle that they are out
of Mitzrayim ... and they’ve come to this place... the Sea of Reeds is in front
of them, their are mountains on both sides of them and Pharaoh’s army is behind
them....
There is NO way out that they can
see... and what does YHWH tell Moshe to
tell them...
Be quiet
Stand still.
What would instinct say... but
RUN!!
But the key is understanding the
Hebrew word here in
Sh’mot 14:13
-
the English is “stand still”
The Hebrew word is Yatsab as we
said.
But there is more to Yatsab.
Yatsab means to present oneself
and stand with someone.
Stand with who?
Let’s back up...
Sh’mot 14:13 “FEAR NOT”
So.. get this picture...
the water, the mountains, the
Egyptian ARMY... and
YHWH says...
Fear not... stand still and be
quiet.
YHWH is saying to Isra’el...
-
Trust me, Stand with me and be quiet... and what and
see what i will do for you.
Has HE ever said - “Watch and see
what i will do for you.” ??
Because that is what He said to
Isra’el in a life or death situation.
And that is what YHWH is saying to
us today...
“Watch and see what I will do for
you.”
There are times when HE gives us
clear direction to DO something or many somethings...
and there are times when HE calls
us to stand in faith and not talk... and
SEE HIM work in our lives.
But oh my ... does it take trust.
If you follow the Torah
parashah we get to...
Sh’mot 16:4 “.....that i may test them whether they will have
their halacha in My Torah, or not.”
“That i may test them” ??!!! to see if we are going to follow His
instructions?...
He says... “gather a certain amount”
Listen to my instructions....
How does this relate to our lives
today?
~
Manna... Sh’mot
16
I find it very interesting that i
never understood before that they had to gather the manna and then they had to
DO something with it to eat it....
Sh’mot 16:31 it was like little
coriander seed... and some say they had to grind it up and and water and bake
it...
The Word says it was like wafers
and honey.
First they had to stand still and
now they have instructions to DO something.
~~
And we have talked before about
Sh’mot 17
Rephidim ... Amalek.
Amalek
= son of Elphaz by concubine Timnah.
Grandson of Essau. = DOUBT.
Always
attack on Shabbat.
**
Let’s go back to
Sh’mot 16:35 “And the children of Yisrael did eat manna 40
years, until they came to the land inhabited; they did eat manna until they
came to the borders of the land of Kanaan.”
Manna - the bread / lechem YHWH
provided while they were in the wilderness.
Manna was a foreshadow of better
lechem/bread to come.
Yochanan 6:32-47
RSTNE p 760
{“Y’shua
said unto them, Amain, Amain i say to you... I am the lechem (bread) of Eloha.”}
So the manna that came from the
shamayim (heavens) was miraculous, it points to the TRUE BREAD of LIFE - Y’shua
haMashiach.
Manna got its name Manna because
Manna means “what is it.”
and that is how bread is today...
Most people don’t know they are
supposed to be fed in churches.
Most people don’t eat the BREAD
that we have... the Torah...
The invitation is ... are you
eating the Bread of Life?
Is His presence within you??
Are you finding that there are
times to STAND STILL and BE QUIET and times to gather bread??
Are there times to “Watch and see”
what YHWH will do for you ?
and are there times to GATHER THE
BREAD???
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 31:1-10
Notzrim in verse 6...
footnote:
“the world Notzrim speaks of watchmen (guards) appointed by YHWH and assigned
tot he task of watching over the restoration of all Yisra’el ...
The word Notzrim and the root is
Natzar. The real explanation of the
Hebrew word is = to safe keep, to keep unit a later time, to hide it in a way
that will be revealed later.”
I am suggesting to you today... we
are Notzrim....
- “Watchmen (guards) appointed by YHWH and
assigned to the task of watching over the restoration of all Yisra’el ...
...the root is Natzar. The real explanation of the Hebrew word is =
to safe keep, to keep unit a later time, to hide it in a way that will be
revealed later.”
I believe this is us.
Matthew Nolan was talking about
Yirmeyahu 31 in his last Shabbat teaching and he quoted verse 8... and said
“and with them, the blind and the
lame”
and then he went on to say...
we were once blind and lame... we
sat in pews like the blind and the lame are still doing...
but look at the Word right here...
at least some of the “blind and
lame” are going with the Notzrim!!!!
But currently...
Ahmos 8:11 RSTNE 465
“Behold,
the days come, says the Mater YHWH, that I wiill send a famine in the land, not
a famine of lechem nor a thirst for mayim, but of hearing the words of YHWH.”
So the question is... do you spend
time Standing and being quiet and watching what YHWH will/ is doing in your
life
and DO you gather BREAD??
Do you study His Word.....
the famine is growing and we are
called to lead the blind and the lame and set the captives free...
We have to know the Word / Torah
to do this!!
Notzrim -”(guards) appointed by
YHWH and assigned to the task of watching over the restoration of all Yisra’el
... “
-”the root is Natzar. The real explanation of the Hebrew word is =
to safe keep, to keep unit a later time, to hide it in a way that will be revealed
later.”
We can not lead the blind and lame
nor can we set the captives
free....
if we don’t know Torah / the
written Word of YHWH and
the LIVING WORD.
amein.
