We are going to talk a bit about the Torah portion and then review from last week’s Brad Scott’s teaching on B’resheet and then continue with the B’resheet teaching...
*
Torah portion Vayetze = he went out
B’resheet 28:1-22 cjb p 29
Ya’akov has just been blessed by Yitz’chak... and is being sent away to his Father’s country to find a wife.
It might sound like... Ya’akov /Jacob - just walked or rode until he was tired... but I believe he was being led to a certain place.
Many resources teach that this is a certain location that YHWH has done things in before...
B’re’shiyt 12:1-7 cjb p 11
Avram is in the place called Sh’khem, at the oak of Moreh.
12:8 “He left that place went to the hill east of Beit - El and pitched his tent. Beit -El to the west and Ai to the east, he built an altar and called on the name of YHWH”
Sh’khem was the center of Canann (Promised Land), in a beautiful valley between Mount Ebal on the north and Mount Gerizim on the south... where YHWH appeared to Avram.
Now think about Avram’s situation... he left his father’s home - where they were controlled by King Nimrod...
and soon after being in the Promised Land, Lot gets himself and his family captured... so Avraham and 318 (B’re’shiyt 14:14) go after Lot and get him and family and stuff back.
So Avraham didn’t just have a couple friends that moved with him.
It wouldn’t make sense that all the men would go... and there would be families - women and children besides... so a lot of people left Nimrod’s kingdom with him.
Much of what i have been reading - says that Abraham actually was a preacher.. a teacher... and that according to the Book of Abraham and other old writings - Abraham actually preached about the Mashiach coming and dying and rising to restore YHWH’s people and individuals!!
Here in an area of or near Sh’khem - in the middle of pagan peoples... Abraham openly acknowledged his Elohiym before all men.... He built and altar - and worshiped.
*
Some writers say that Sh’khem that this is the same place that was to be the sacrificial alter - the place of Avraham’s akediah.... (where he was to offer Yitz’chak /Isaac).
It is this area - the land of Moriah... also called Beit’El or The House of God
....the rabbis teach that is the place where YHWH created the universe
... the place where Adam first offered sacrifice, as did Cain and Abel
... after the Great Flood Noah commissioned Shem to the the Malki’Tzedek here in this place
... Shem later established a school at Moriah and became a central place of Torah study
the bedrock of Moriah was called “Eben ha-Shetiyah” = “the Foundation Stone” and is believed to be the foundation stone of the Temple.
Abraham called this place Adonai Yireh - YHWH will provide
the place that became the threshing floor that David purchased and then the Temple...
as well as it was near the sight of the crucifixion of Mashiach.
B’re’shiyt 18:1 “YHWH appeared to Avraham by the oaks of Mamre....”
Clearly YHWH did a lot of things here... This is where He consistently talked to His men who were to become the patriarchs of our faith.
B’re’shiyt 26:1-5 cjb p 26
Yitz’chak’s blessing
B’re’shiyt 28 cjb p 29 - Ya’akov’s dream... YHWH speaks to Him....
B’re’shiyt 35 - at Beit-El - Ya’akov’s blessing
All these blessings seem to be at or near the same location.
*
Ya’akov’s ladder was more than just a dream - but an actual portal to heaven....
a place where angels descend and ascend.
Rendelmen says a ladder is like a bridge that grants access to something higher.
As we understand more of His Torah and worship Him in Emet/ Truth/ Torah, and in Ruach / Spirit - we will go “higher” in understanding of YHWH and closer in our relationship with Him.
Ladders involve effort - we must do something to move up.
Sh’ma.... Isra’el. :)
Tehillim / prayer is part of that effort...
The Hebrew word for ladder is “sulam”.
The gematria of “sulam” is 136.
The word “kol” is the same number value = 136
and Kol means “voice of prayer”
When we pray and seek YHWH’s face we can come into HIs presence and transcend the cares of this world.
We begin to see things from His perspective.
*What did we say this place was called?
Beit-El = house of El.
The place that would later BE the Temple
After his dream/vision - Ya’akov does something that hadn’t been done before... he set up the stone and poured oil on it... B’re’shiyt 28:18...
This is the first anointing in the Torah... and is prophecy regarding Mashiach - telling of an anointed Mashiach that would come.
Later in B’re’shiyt 31:13 cjb p 33
“I am the God of Beit-El, where you anointed a standing -stone with oil, where you vowed your vow to me, Now get up, get out of this land, and return to the land where you were born.”
**
Rendelman says....
In November of 1996 a special ceremony between Scotland and England marked the handover of an ancient rock.
This large stone now rests under close guard, along with the crown jewels of Scotland, until it is needed for the coronation of the next king of England. Many kings have been coronated upon this stone.
Called the "Stone of Scone," --- it is actually believed to be the stone that the Biblical patriarch Jacob used for a pillow in B’re’shiyt 28 at Bethel.
BUT - Rendelman says....
“The connection between this stone, the people of Israel, and the coronation of the King of Kings is amazing.”
The Bible tells of how Ya’akov came to a town called Luz and prepared for bed.
He didn't have a comfy feather pillow, so he found a stone and slept upon it.
While resting he dreamed of a ladder reaching into the heavens with angels ascending and descending.
Ya’akov awoke in worship, made an altar of his pillow, and renamed the place.
He called it Beit-El or "House of Elohim."
After Ya’akov, the stone isn't spoken of in the Bible again.
And it's not until later in the Scriptures that Beit-El returns as a primary subject, and when it does Beit-El isn’t the place it was.....
By M’lakhim Aleph /1 Kings, this whole area is back to paganism...
**
The prophets foretold a time when Beit-El would be returned to true worship and the twelve tribes would be restored.
Remember, true worship is worship in Spirit /Ruach and in Truth/ Emet / Torah!
Yirmeyahu /Jeremiah 3:17-18 cjb p 550 - the restoration of the 2 Kingdoms of Isra’el.
~
In
Yochanan 1:41-51 cjb p 1331
=Y’shua clarifies the Ya’akov ladder vision and shows His connection with it....
Ya’akov /Jacob saw the vision of the ladder - when he slept on the stone.
To reunite the nation of Israel is one of the reasons Messiah Y'shua came to live and die.
Y’shua was born in Bethlehem, in the Southern kingdom, yet he spent much of his time near Galilee and Nazareth of the Northern part of Israel.
This is where we begin to see that the remarkable link between the -Northern Kingdom, Jacob's ladder, and the Messiah - is amazing.
In the first chapter of Yochanan /John we read of how, "Y'shua decided to leave for Galilee.
Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me." Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Beit-Tzaidah.
Philip found Natan’el and told him, "We have found the one Moshe wrote about in the Torah, and about whom the prophets also wrote-Y'shua of Nazareth, the son of Yosef."
"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Natan’el asked. "Come and see," said Philip.
When Y'shua saw Natan’el approaching, He said of him, "Here’s a true son of Isra’el - nothing false in him!”
"How do you know me?" Natan’el asked.
Y’shua knew that he had an honest heart and was pursuing YHWH and only YHWH would have known that.
so...
Y'shua answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you." - and again Y’shua demonstrates supernatural power....
Then Natan’el declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of YHWH; you are the king of Isra’el."
Y'shua said, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that."
He then added,"Yes indeed! I tell you that you will see heaven opened and the angels of YHWH going up and coming down on the the Son of Man!”
==Y'shua is Jacob's ladder that bridges heaven and earth!!
He is the culmination of all that Ya'akov dreamed of at Beit-El.
One of His main desires was to see true worship returned to Beit- El and the children of Israel reunited under the rule and reign of YHWH.
The Messiah's efforts to reach the lost sheep in the Northern Kingdom should not be easily dismissed. Messiah came to reunite the nation of Israel and establish the Kingship of YHWH.
In Mattityahu 10 Y'shua sent the disciples "to the lost sheep of Israel"
and in Mattityahu 15: 24 cjb p 1243 Y'shua said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
B’re’shiyt 12:8 shows us that Abraham first came to Beit-El and "called upon the name of YHWH."
Later Ya'akov worshipped at the same location and experienced YHWH's presence.
Today, YHWH is calling the hearts of the children back to the patriarchal fathers.
The nation of Israel is slowing coming together as believers share their faith throughout the world.
The return of the King draws closer as we are His witnesses throughout the earth.
And who knows, Y'shua may even use the stone from Beit’El’s altar as He establishes His kingdom on this world.

Let’s REVIEW....... what we have covered in B’re’shiyt teaching by Brad Scott:
Yesha’Yahu / Isaiah 46:10 cjb p 510
“At the beginning I announce the end, proclaim in advance things not yet done; and i say that my plans will hold, I will do everything i please to do.”
Christianity translates this to mean... “God knows the end in the beginning.”
but...
“At the beginning i announce the end”....
== maggiyd mere ‘shiyth
really means....
= “YHWH declares the end ... in the beginning.”
Do we get this.??... B’re’shiyt is not just great stories of the earliest days of the earth.... it is prophecy of what the end is going to be like.
*
we also talked about needing to decide what we believe....
in the Big Bang theory
or
Do we believe the Word which says YHWH created all things....
Mizmore /Psalm 33:6 cjb p 820
“By the WORD of YHWH the heavens were made, and their whole host by a breath from his mouth.”
B’resheet 1:1
“B’resheet bara Elohim et (Aleph-Tav) ha shamayim va-et har Eretz.”
“In the beginning YHWH -Aleph Tov- created the heavens and the earth.”
*
We also talked about the pattern in the Word - about man and about Isra’el:
- Creation
- fall
- restoration
- something NEW
*
B’re’shiyt Chapter 1 Sefer Ma’aseh B’re’shiyt
B’re’shity bara’ Elohiym ‘et hashamayim v’et ha’aretz.
In the beginning created Elohiym the heaven and the earth.
Look at this... 7 words make up the very first sentence of the Torah.
We talked about how we could draw a Menorah here...
with the “et” being the center.... the servant candle - which represents the Messiah
and on one side... B're'shiyt bara elohiym
and on the other side... hashamayim v’et ha’aretz.
~
On one side of the Servant candle... “B’re’shiyt bara elohiym is about YHWH
and on the other side of the Servant candle....
= hashamayim v’et ha’aretz
which is the creation or earth/world side...
so look what is between YHWH and the earth....??
~ The servant candle - the Mashiach who came to reconnect us back to YHWH - who came and died and rose so the bridegroom could remarry the bride and Isra’el could return to YHWH!!!!
*
We talked about the “et” = and learned that it is not the “A and the Z” nor is it the “Alpha and the Omega”...
but rather “et” is the Aleph and the Tov!!
and in
Hitgalut / Revelation 22:12-13 cjb p 1555
read better translated:...
“Pay attention [says Y’shua] “i am coming soon and my rewards are with me to give to each person according to what he has done. 13 “I am the Aleph and the Tov, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
the Aleph Tov is Y’shua!!
and we looked at the aleph bet page before the green page in our books... and learned that
Aleph = ox = strong, power, leader, yoke, thousand
Tov = crossed sticks = mark, sign, seal, own, covenant
So.... Aleph Tov is the power and strength of the leader of the Covenant
**
Then we started talking about the first word of the Torah:
B’re’shiyt...
the Hebrew letters are - resh, aleph, shin, yod, tov
B’re’shiyt means = “in the beginning” or
= “in the head of”
really - Re’shiyt means “beginning” or “head of”
and we learned that if we take off the bet and the yod and tov - we have the root of b're'shiyt which is
a resh- aleph - shin = ROSH = to cause something to enter into motion; to produce action.
ROSH is....
---translated as :
beginning, first, first fruits, chief, head, sum.
Scripture where these are found....
are listed in the middle of paige 3 of your study guide
It is also suggested that this - B’re’shiyt is a title and expression of the Messiah himself -- a word that refers to “He that begins all things.”
*
We talked about how the bet - the first letter - in the oldest version of Torah found - faces the other letters... as the Torah comes out of the house...
The house is YHWH’s house.
Again we are back to the house the family and the piece of land....
Mattityahu 13:1 cjb p 1239
and then Y’shua went out of house and went to the West... with the purpose of bringing them back to the house.
We consistently see that the mission of Y’shua...
IS........“To take His people - Isra’el - by the hand, and lead them back to the house and be family.”

Teaching #3
- the word B’re’shiyt -- from Brad Scott’s work....
Before we go on - i want you to draw the picture that every little kid in our culture anyways... draws ...
= a house on a piece of land and a family.
So the word b’re’shiyt means - the head of... the beginning of...
and...to start something into motion...
It is also a title as it is used here in B’re’shiyt 1:1
= an identification of the source of all goodness... outside the bounds of time... before the works of old.
Yochanan /John 1:1-3 cjb p 1329
“In the beginning (B’re’shiyt) was the Word (the Living Torah), and the Word (the Living Torah) was with YHWH, and the Word (the Living Torah) was YHWH. He was with YHWH in the beginning. All things came to be through him, and wihtout him nothing made had being.”
= Creation was not in the beginning with YHWH, but rather, the WORD ... The Living Torah was with YHWH...and HE created ...
*
Page 4 in the study guide
“Rabbinical commentary: 2 worlds” = this world and the world to come.
Rabbis talk about the “bet” being between our world and the olam habba - the world to come.
This also refers to all seen and all unseen matter...
remember unseen matter takes up a lot more space than seen matter....
YHWH created - not something from nothing, but the seen from the unseen.
2 Corinthians 4:18 cjb p 1444
“We concentrate not on what is seen but on what is not seen, since things seen are temporary, but things not seen are eternal.”
“In the beginning” must be understood in context:
Mattityahu 19:4 cjb p 1247 “He replied, ‘Haven’t you read that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female.”
and
Mark 10:6 cjb p 1275
“However, at the beginning of creation, God made them male and famale.”
We need to understand here that the creation was not with YHWH in the beginning - only the Word...
BUT “in the beginning” is a way to say the start of time.
Remember YHWH is outside of time... and HE always was/is... so HE was... and then He created....
Colossians 1:15 cjb p 1470
“He is the visible image of the invisible God. He is supreme over all creation,”
Miz’mor /Psalm 119:160 cjb p 919
“The main thing about your Word is that it’s true; and all your just rulings last forever.”
Brad teaches -
YHWH’s word is truth and it is from the beginning and YHWH reveals the same truth to every generation
...and as you begin to really search for the treasures in the Torah - (1st five books - the beginning - in this case ) -you are going to make more sense of the rest of Torah... and then you will see the fruit.
Fruit from this seed in the begnining... the same seed that began it all, is in it all... that same truth/ seed will be in all the fruit.
Y’sha’Yahu /Isaiah 48:3 cjb p 512
“I announced things that happened at the beginning, long ago; they issued from my mouth, I proclaimed them. then suddenly I acted, and they occured.”
Brad then reminds us ... of the pattern again...
creation - fall- restoration - new
All things were created in the beginning ...in 1:1 ......
....and there was a fall... and a restoration...
and this pattern is going to be duplicated with the individual and all of Isra’el.
We have often talked about the Two Kingdoms and we know .... that there is salvation for the individual.... but that is not the depth of the “Good News” that Scripture talks about
..... but infact the Good News is that since the bridegroom died and rose - the bridegroom can remarry the bride!!
*
Brad Scot’s premise regarding these first two verses of B’re’shiyt ...
1:1 In the beginning God (Aleph Tov) created the heavens and the earth.
1:2 The earth was unformed and void, darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of YHWH hovered over the surface of the water.”
... Brad’s premise is that B’re’shiyt 1:1 is an “absolute statement”.
An absolute statement ==
What he means is that in B’re’shiyt 1:1 YHWH created it all. Everything was there.
It was NOT void.
It became void.
(He gives a lot of explanation of this... and we will eventaully get this... but right now we are going to take his word for it.)
Let’s look at
Sh’mot /Exodus 20:11 cjb p 82
“For in 6 days, YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them; but on the 7th day he rested. This is why YHWH blessed the day, Shabbat, and separated it for himself.”
...in 6 days YHWH made heaven and earth...
= the making takes place AFTER vs 1 and is a restoration.
B’re’shiyt bara -
that word bara doesn’t show up gain until we have the souls of the animals and humans... there bodies are made of creation stuff....but their breath /life force comes from YHWH...
---You might be thinking..... “But i thought that animals don’t have souls!!!”
You might have thought that.... but you didn’t read the B’re’shiyt in Hebrew before either....
we will get to that ....
*
Brad says
“After creation has been reborn in B’re’shiyt 1:2... now YHWH is going to take his words and shape and from them, in 6 days, all the “things”.
*
Now consider this...
After man is born again... Torah maintains in Romans 8:22 that creation is groaning for its new body, just like we are waiting for a new body.... (us through resurrection ) .... and in the end there will be a new heaven and new earth.
Sh’mot /Ex 20:11 verifieds that this takes place in 6 days... and they are literal days....
... NOT geological time periods.
Sh’mot /Exodus 20:11 cjb p 82
“For in 6 days, YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them; but on the 7th day he rested. This is why YHWH blessed the day, Shabbat, and separated it for himself.”
remember how i have said before... after the Mt St Helens erruption... science learned that it doesn’t take millions of years to make a petrified forest.. it happened virtually in moments during the erruption!
Brad says...
you can be pretty sure that how it looked after those six days... is not how it looks now....but it might be close in many aspects.
We don’t know what it looked like before the flood...
but in B’re’shiyt 1:26 ...
“Then YHWH said, “let us make humankind in our image, in the likeness of ourselves; and let them rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the animals, and over all the earth, and over every crawling creature that crawls on the earth.”
So thus opened the door for the corruption that is taking place ...
== man got put in charge.!
Brad notes that there are some versons (not the oldest), and some people who say... ...”in the beginning OF his creation”... Brad says he doesn’t believe this is true b/c he believes it creation - is a perfected thing... an absolute thing
AMEIN.....
this is as far as we got... continuing next time
Shabbat Shalom!!
