Torah portion: Vayishalach - “He continued Living”
B’re’shiyt 37
the story of Yoseph being sold to Egypt.
**
let’s review Hanukkah....
Remember it starts Nov 27 at sundown...
Mattitias Maccabee was the priest in Moed’im who the soldiers thouht would be willing to sacrifice a pig on the altar of YHWH for riches... But he refused because he knew that He could not violate Torah... and his sons became a rebel band and three years of fighting... took back the Temple... cleaned it up and found a day’s worth of oil and decided to light the menorah - because a lit menorah always brought the Presence of the Living God... and the oil lasted for 8 days....
Hanukkah - the Feast of Dedication....
the Festival of lights....
This season we remember what a small group of people did in the face and threat of death... and we remember who the Light of the World is...
and i invite you to stop and consider what will you dedicate to YHWH this season??
**
Okay....
Review B’re’shiyt :
The main things from B’re’shiyt teaching of Brad Scott so far....
2 pictures:
1. The first sentence of B’re’shiyt is a menorah:
with the “et” - the aleph and the tov - as the center - which happens to be the servant candle (Hitgalut /Rev 22:12-13)
... and one side of the menorah the YHWH side:
“B’re’shiyt bara elohiym”
...and the other side, the side of creation/ world - haShamayim va’et haErezt”
and remember that Y’shua is the connection- the ladder that we learned about in the Torah portion of the dream Ya’Akov had... the ladder that connects heaven and earth.
the second picture:
- The house, the piece of land. and a family:
We talked about how the bet - the first letter - in the oldest version of Torah found - faces the other letters... as the Torah comes out of the house...
The house is YHWH’s house.
Again we are back to the house the family and the piece of land....
Mattityahu 13:1 cjb p 1239
“That same day, Y’shua went out of the house and sat down by the lake , but such a large crowd gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat there while the crowd stood on the shore...”
- “out of the house” = outside the court of the Tabernacle = “the HOUSE”
- This teaching is foundational on the principal of the seed... and that is that YHWH’s family is born from His seed - the Torah/ Word - and not from man’s seed / blood and sperm.
- The phrase - “to go out of the house” in Hebrew thinking is to leave from the East and go to the West.
- The word that has been translated as “shore” is “yam” in Hebrew and it is the same word as “west”... and who is represented by the west - those “out of the house” of YHWH - His beit hamichdash.
- Those out of the House of YHWH are those out of covenant or, said more clearly --- those not keeping Torah.
- “....sat down by the lake” - “lake” = the Hebrew meaning here is - a great multitude = the Northern Kingdom of Isra’el.
So... what we have: ...That same day, Y’shua went out of YHWH’s house - the beit hamichdash, and went to the West - into the Kingdom of Isra’el - the Northern Kingdom ... with the purpose of bringing them - the people of the Northern Kingdom - those out of covenant - also known as Isra’el ----back to the house
- actually doing what He came to do...
Mattityahu 15:24 cjb p 1243
“He said, ‘I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Isra’el.’”
We consistently see that the mission of Y’shua haMashiach...
...IS........
...“To take His people - Isra’el - by the hand, and lead them back to the House - the beit hamichdash - b/c they keep Torah there..... and be family.”
(We can go home now b/c that’s the sermon. :) )
*
we have also talked about the first word of Scripture - B’re’shiyt.
B’re’shiyt = means =
-In the beginning
-a title of the ONE who created
-the head of
-what starts something into motion
(I find it very amazing.... some time ago we learned that ...
Ya’akov /James 3:6 cjb p 1512
“Yes, the tongue is a fire, a world of wickedness. The tongue is so placedin our body that it defiles every part of it, setting ablaze the whole of our life; and it is set on fire by Gei-Hinnon itself.”
That phrase - “the whole of our life” - is transalted from Hebrew = =“the ophan of B’re’shiyt” !!
Which literally means = “the wheel of B’re’shiyt”
Which better translated is = “The strength and power to keep the cycles of Torah”
Now why am i reminded of this teaching by the defination of B’re’shiyt?
Because -B’re’shiyt means.... “what starts something in motion”!!
... do you see the picture of a wheel starting to roll? !! :)
***
That is the core things so far...
- The picture of a Menorah
- The picture of a house, a piece of land and a family
- and that B’re’shiyt means “to start something into motion”... “the wheel of B’re’shiyt”
- And that the first few chapters of B’re’shiyt are the seed - the prophecy - the core of the entire rest of the Word.... so we have to understand this!!
*****
Now... let’s go to what was newly introduced on 11-9-13:
We reviewed the picture...
...that every little kid in our culture anyways... draws ...
= a house, on a piece of land, and a family.
~
and then we said...
the word b’re’shiyt means - the head of... the beginning of...
and...to start something into motion...
It is also a title as it is used here in B’re’shiyt 1:1
Which is an identification of the source of all goodness - WHO did it... outside the bounds of time... before the works of old.
Yochanan /John 1:1-3 cjb p 1329
“In the beginning (B’re’shiyt) was the Word (the Living Torah), and the Word (the Living Torah) was with YHWH, and the Word (the Living Torah) was YHWH. He was with YHWH in the beginning. All things came to be through him, and wihtout him nothing made had being.”
= Creation was not in the beginning with YHWH,
but rather,
the WORD ... The Living Torah was with YHWH...and HE created ...
YHWH is one... He manifests in many ways.... so YHWH manifested as the ET - the Aleph and the Tov... did the creating... turning something invisible into something visable.

Now let’s go to
Page 4 in the study guide
~~
“Rabbinical commentary: “2 worlds” = this world and the world to come.
Rabbis talk about the “beit” - the first letter of the Torah - as being between our world and the olam habba (the world to come).
This also refers to all seen and all unseen matter...
remember unseen matter takes up a lot more space than seen matter....
YHWH created - not something from nothing, but the seen from the unseen. - in the best translations.
2 Corinthians 4:18 cjb p 1444
“We concentrate not on what is seen but on what is not seen, since things seen are temporary, but things not seen are eternal.”
“In the beginning”-- must be understood in context:
Mattityahu 19:4 cjb p 1247 “He replied, ‘Haven’t you read that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female.”
and referring to the same...
Mark 10:6 cjb p 1275
“However, at the beginning of creation, God made them male and famale.”
Some people read these verses and think it means that creation was with YHWH before time....
so...
We need make sure we understand here that....
... the creation was not with YHWH in the beginning - only the Word / the Living Torah - the “ET” - the Aleph Tov... (Yochanan /John 1:1 cjb p 1329)
BUT....what we need to know when we look at verses like these in Matt 19 and Mark 10 ... is that.....
...... “in the beginning” is a way to say.... “ at the start of time”.
-Remember YHWH is outside of time... and HE always was/is... so HE was...
.....and then He created.... bara. - at the start of time.
Colossians 1:15 cjb p 1470
“He is the visible image of the invisible God. He is supreme over all creation,”
Miz’mor /Psalm 119:160 cjb p 919
“The main thing about your Word is that it’s true; and all your just rulings last forever.”
Brad teaches -
YHWH’s word is truth and it is from the beginning and YHWH reveals the same truth to every generation
...and as you begin to really search for the treasures in the Torah - (1st five books - the beginning - in this case ) -you are going to make more sense of the rest of Torah... and then you will see the fruit.
Fruit from this seed in the begnining...
.... the same seed that began it all, is in it all...
.... that same truth/ seed will be in all the fruit.
(So if it doesn’t line up with the beginning - it isn’t emet / truth.)
Y’sha’Yahu /Isaiah 48:3 cjb p 512
“I announced things that happened at the beginning, long ago; they issued from my mouth, I proclaimed them. then suddenly I acted, and they occured.”
Brad then reminds us ... of the pattern again...
creation - fall- restoration - new
All things were created in the beginning ...in B’re’shiyt 1:1 ......
....and there was a fall... and a restoration...
and this pattern is going to be duplicated with the individual and all of Isra’el.
We have often talked about the Two Kingdoms and we know .... that there is salvation for the individual.... (baruch haShem YHWH!)
....but that is not the depth of the “Good News” that Scripture talks about
..... but infact the Good News is that scripture is referring to is....
- since the bridegroom died and rose - the bridegroom can remarry the bride!! =
What that means is the Northern Kingdom - those out of covenant can return and then the Northern Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom - the “Jew and the Gentile”... Judah and Isra’el.... can be restored as one........ and the bride can be spotless and whole! and haMashiach can return and remarry the bride!!
Baruch haShem YHWH!!

Brad Scot’s premise regarding these first two verses of B’re’shiyt ...
1:1 In the beginning God (Aleph Tov) created the heavens and the earth.
1:2 The earth was unformed and void, darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of YHWH hovered over the surface of the water.”
... Brad’s premise is that B’re’shiyt 1:1 is an “absolute statement”.
An absolute statement .........
....What he means is that in B’re’shiyt 1:1 YHWH created it all. Everything was there.
It was NOT void.
It became void.
(Brad Scott gives a lot of explanation of this... and we will eventaully get this... but right now we are going to take his word for it because he understand Hebrew better than anyone i know.)
Let’s look at
Sh’mot /Exodus 20:11 cjb p 82
“For in 6 days, YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them; but on the 7th day he rested. This is why YHWH blessed the day, Shabbat, and separated it for himself.”
...in 6 days YHWH made heaven and earth...
= the making takes place AFTER vs 1 and is a restoration.
B’re’shiyt bara -
that word bara doesn’t show up gain until we have the souls of the animals and humans... there bodies are made of creation stuff....but their breath /life force comes from YHWH...
~
remember i said before....
---You might be thinking..... “But i thought that animals don’t have souls!!!”
You might have thought that.... but you didn’t read the B’re’shiyt in Hebrew before either....
we will get to that ....
~
*
Brad says
“After creation has been reborn in B’re’shiyt 1:2... now YHWH is going to take His words and shape and form all the “things”, in 6 days.
*
Now consider this...
After man is born again...
Torah maintains in Romans 8:22 that creation is groaning for its new body, just like we are waiting for a new body.... (us through resurrection ) .... and in the end there will be a new heaven and new earth.
Sh’mot /Ex 20:11 verifieds that this takes place in 6 days...
... and they are literal days....
... NOT geological time periods.
Sh’mot /Exodus 20:11 cjb p 82
“For in 6 days, YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them; but on the 7th day He rested. This is why YHWH blessed the day, Shabbat, and separated it for himself.”
remember how i have said before... after the Mt. St Helens erruption... science learned that it doesn’t take millions of years to make a petrified forest.. it happened virtually in moments during the erruption!
Brad says...
“You can be pretty sure that how it looked after those six days... is not how it looks now....but it might be close in many aspects.”
We don’t know what it looked like before the flood...
but in B’re’shiyt 1:26 ...it says....
“Then YHWH said, “let us make humankind in our image, in the likeness of ourselves; and let them rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the animals, and over all the earth, and over every crawling creature that crawls on the earth.”
~~ This opened the door for the corruption that is taking place ...
== man got put in charge.!
(Janet’s note - but not only man got put in charge... hasatan fell... and his goal is to corrupt the things of YHWH - so this is the root of why there is a mess in our world.)
Brad notes that there are some versons ( BUT -not the oldest), that some people who say... ...”in the beginning OF his creation”... Brad says he doesn’t believe this is true b/c he believes that creation - is a perfected thing... an absolute thing... because this fits with the character and nature of YHWH and it lines up with His Torah /Word... as we will discover as we go on....
**** ~~~~ **** ~~~~ **** ~~~~
(New and not yet covered at all.....)
So now let’s move on to what is NEW in our B’re’shiyt study - that we have not covered at all yet....
Brad Scott points out that the word B’resheet itself contains dozens of doctrines in just the word alone...
(-He didn’t explain a lot here but I will mention a couple...)
....”You can see the very fist 3 letters of B’re’shiyt repeat in bara... and this gives the whole idea of the creation being involved since it is buried in the word ‘beginning’.”
... in the rosh - the root of B’re’shiyt - the “osh”... is speaking of fire....
--- the shiyt is about the son of Noah = Seth.
and apparently there is a whole lot more...
*
Brad goes on in his teaching to say...
If one rearranges the letters of B’re’shiyt, we get what is in the middle of page 4 in your books...
1. The words - “bayit rosh” = head of the house, or first house
---this is the first house and the house begins with the head of it...
...and the head is just there - YHWH himself... He is there. He is.
He always was.
There is no explantion of how the head - YHWH got there...
And as we talked about before in this teaching -- The Living God gives no explanation of how HE got there... HE just always was....
.... unlike all the other religions... who can explain there god - they have a story of how their god came to be... but not the Living God.
If you rearrange the letters of b’re’shiyt you also get
the word...
2. “betisherey”
which means = in the month of Tishrei.
according to ancient rabbis - YHWH created all things in the month of Tishrei. (Sept/ Oct ish... Yom Terruah/ Yom Kippur / Sukkot seasons).
**
Another thing to note about “B’re’shiyt bara”... is
the gemetria of “B’re’shiyt bara” = is the same numerical value as............. “on Yom terruah the world was created”....
“This COULD be a coincidence but maybe it’s significant” according to Brad Scott...
B’re’shiyt = numerical value is 913.
913 is the same numercal value as
“Batorah yatzar” = “He formed with Torah!!” = 913
*
Let’s talk about gemetria / numbers for a bit...
Pethagarus said “numbers are the language of the universe”...
... we know from a scientific view - everything we see can be put into a numercial value...
This is how computers operate... according to Brad - not janet :)....
Computers operate in simplest/ rawest form - on a binary system encoded... just like gemetria... binary involves 2 numbers..
a 0 and a 1.
these express “on” or “off”... and the combinationo of the zeros and ones give us what is translated very rapidly as - letters and words .
Doesn’t it make sense that there is meaning with gematria?
We know there is also a mess with using gematria in the Jewish mystiscism of kaballah....
But we are not talking about taking numbers and adding this and that and bending this and that to get the answer we want... as Brad says happens in Kabbalah.
We are just talking about the numbers that are there.
i think we need to look at this - numbers - as a revelant way that YHWH communicates things, and this is not Kabbalah.
*
That said... let’s look at...
The heptadic structure -
-that is the structure of the very beginning... Heptadic structure is about 7s.
B’re’shiyt 1:1
“B’re’shiyt bara Elohyim ‘et hashamayim v’et ha’aretz.”
There are 7 words
the right side of the menorah... contains
the first three words and they contain 14 letters
and the last 4 words contain 14 letters .
The aleph - the first Hebrew letter which represents the number 1 and also 1,000 ... appears 6 times in this sentence...
== mankind is going to be alotted 6 days or 6k years
- expresssed by this letter aleph here,
- appearing 6 times in the first sentence of the completed work of bara.
wow.
*
So.... we have scratched the surface of understanding B’re’shiyt. :)
in summary of the word B’re’shiyt....
B’re’shiyt =
- in the beginning or the head of
- something that starts something into motion
- gemetria of 913 = which is the same value as “He formed with Torah”
- gematria of “B’re’shiyt bara” = “on Rosh haShanah/ Yom Teruah the world was created.”
B’re’shiyt - starts with a bet - which represents the house of YHWH ... which he longs to take us all back to and be a family.
